  • no grip behind knee and legs?

This past couple months I seemed to have lost grip on the back of my knee and legs. I’ve been practicing knee holds and even trying to do basic invert and crucifix I’ve found myself having to catch my self with my hands so I won’t fall. They just slip right off. I was fine before this even when I was just starting out again after pregnancy. I don’t put lotion on my legs and it’s not from sweat cause its been too cold in my garage for that. Any Suggestions? Thank you.

Have you been off-pole for a while? Are you paying close attention to how you’re gripping with your legs? Is it perhaps due to the cold, preventing you to get a good grip with the skin of your legs? Have you been training your legs particularly hard and perhaps your muscles are fatigued?

I’ve found the cold problem to be a big one for me 😉

it could be that your pole and your skin is cold. my pole has to be really warm and my legs slightly sweaty for me to stick good.

My knees are the opposite of my hands. They need to be slightly sweaty for them to have good grip. Sometimes even after warming up and warming the pole it’s not enough. I use one spritz of medium on the back of each of my knees. That helps me perfectly! Good luck!

I agree with the others, it’s most likely from the change in temperature. No sweat can be just as bad as too much. I struggle with knee pit grips from time to time and use a spray grip aid called “Stickum” I believe it’s originally for baseball and I’ve easily found it in most sporting good stores. Last year, when my heat went out I put a small space heater near my pole, that’s something to consider also!

It must be from the cold. My pole is out in the garage which is just as bad as being outside at night. I didn’t know the a cold pole could result in less grip. Thanks everyone for the help. I think I’ll try some grip aid.

Definitely the cold, also your skin might be drier because of the weather too (I have that problem). You may need to moisturize your legs with something grippy like Corn Husker’s lotion.

If you have itac try just a little of that behind the knees(and along the front of the shin can help with climbing). If you don’t have any, a pro told me to try a bit of men’s Gillette shave foam-(the plain red can– nothing with “moisturizing” on the label) – not too much and be sure to rub it into your legs well…they should feel just a bit ‘tacky’. You may want to wash your hands after(not so great for hands). My body so dry, but my hands are sweaty, and this works pretty good.
