So I scored a 45mm x-pert used and it didn’t have a single scratch on it. Story was that she bought it, used it a few times and decided poling was not for her. All parts were there and nicely packaged in their respective bags. I get it home. Hubby puts it up. Looks good other than the top piece that goes into the dome isn’t flush. Put it on the spin mode and it doesn’t spin right either. I did a hand spin it and it catches. Called x-pole and he had the wrong x-joint up at at the dome. So we take it down and put it back up. I make sure to tell him not to over tighten. The pole is still not spinning continues to catch when I do a hand turn. I tried body weight and while it spins it just doesn’t feel like the one in the studio I go to. It’s not over tight. I had him loosen it so much it actually moved an inch from the ceiling. This thing is level from all sides. We took the level up and down the pole. Any ideas? Did I get a bum pole after all?

I have the same problem with my pole catching a bit on spin mode. The catch isn’t noticeable to me while I’m poling, but when I turn it by hand, its not smooth. Drives me completely bonkers, but I also can’t seem to find a way for it to stop catching. Mine is also not over tightened and completely level. Hopefully we’ll both get some answers… (fingers crossed)

There are 2 bearings on the pole, one in the dome and one in the base; I would suspect thatvone of them is seized. And easy way to check is to spin them when the pole is down….they should rotate without issue. You vanity hitting it withal little 3-in-1 oil or a light machine oil (razors and sewing machine type oil) and see if that helps. if not you may need to replace the bearing.

VAgal76 – we note from your original post that you advise the top piece that goes into the dome is not flush. This could mean that the pole was overtightened in its previous life and the dome is bent or offset.

The other reason it could catch is if the screws are not flush in spin mode

Please can you send photos of the parts to us at the Tech centre so we can advise further.

Please send photos of the upper dome with top insert inserted (the piece that attached the pole to the dome) from the side and at a 45 degree angle and the base without the pole on it so we can see the base shaft) and any more you think would assist.
