Hey everyone 🙂 Just wondering if its normal to be really sore and tight for days after stretching for splits? I feel as though if I don’t stretch intensely enough (I stretch to uncomfortable, not pain) I’m only really maintaining flexibility, not increasing it. Thoughts??

It’s normal for me. In the beginning the soreness would go away in about 3 maybe sometimes even 4 days and then I’d stretch again. Gradually the sore days became less as long as I’d consistently stretch right after the soreness was gone.

It’s normal, and it’s very, VERY good that you are stretching to the point of uncomfortable, not pain. If you stretch to pain, you’re going way too far.
For maintainence, what I’ve heard is that you should be holding the stretch for about 10 seconds, and for increasing flexibility, you hold for up to 2 minutes.
Stretching does similar things to muscles as strength training does, so feeling a little sore as your muscles heal is normal. Remember to take rest days!
