NOT built to pole
Posted by cheffycakes on January 24, 2014 at 2:37 amI would like to just say that I am not built to pole. I am weak and unflexy. I take months and months to master simple things that first timers surpass me on ( I’m still trying to perfect my fireman after 6 months). I’m a difficult student because I know I’m horribly slow with muscle memory. But I’m proud to say that I. Love. Pole. I’m pathetically slow with progression, but you can’t beat my determination. The amount of work I have to put into the simplest moves makes it that much more rewarding. I’m trying the positive outlook on things here. Can’t hurt, right?? 🙂

But that doesn’t make you a difficult student, it probably makes you are great one. You know what you need to work on and you’re determined to get to it!

yes you are! anyone can pole 😀 everyone learns pole at a different pace so you can’t compare your progress to anyone else’s. stick with it & go at your own pace.

We all come to pole from different places. You don’t have to BE anything to love pole, and you love pole! So that means you ARE built to pole 🙂
-
You love it and that makes you a poler! We all have strengths and weaknesses; embrace them and pole on 🙂

I really feel the same way. I am very weak and am still just focusing on pole holds, knee tucks, climbing, anything to help me get stronger and I get so frustrated because I wonder if I will ever be able to do anything. But, it makes me happy and I know I’m doing something to change myself in a positive way. I just wish my family and boyfriend were a bit more supportive.

As long as you have the love for pole, the pole will love you back! You seem to be a determined woman. The most important thing is to have the desire, which you do so dont judge yourself by other peoples pace and progress. Move at your own pace and the strength will come without you even realizing it. Pole Bull said it beautifully.

Ha. I feel you’re pain. I’m the most awkwardly shaped human for pole (my arms are too short, my torso is super long, my boobs, butt, and thighs get in the way… Chemmie can attest to it!) Before pole I could barely touch my toes. It takes me 6 months at least to learn a new move. All of these things makes me appreciate it even more. The fact that I finally got my middle splits after almost a decade of working on it was almost as proud of a moment as getting into medical school! It took me 2 years to get superwoman, but when I finally got it I was ecstatic.
Additionally, if you ever want to teach, you will be amazing at it! You will know every way to fail at a move and how to correct it! 🙂 While it’s fun teaching people who are naturally awesome, it’s way more rewarding and enjoyable to teach a struggling student who works hard and finally gets a new move! -
OMG I can’t edit. I can’t believe i just typed “you’re” instead of “your.” This is going to bother me for the rest of the night.

They may get in the way, but your boobs and butt are FANTASTIC.

don’t compare yourself to everyone else. Your pole story is your own and has nothing to do with how fast someone else nails certain moves. We all learn differently and that’s all it makes us; different. not any better or any worse. Korinne, I feel your pain. My boobs get in the way as well, I keep wishing they’ll shrink with more pole.

You are not a difficult student. Trust me. I’m the same way, it takes me months to do what most people do much quicker. It’s okay though because the harder you work to get it, the more you enjoy it. If it all came easy it wouldn’t be as much fun…or that’s what I tell myself 😉
Enjoy the journey. There are so many varying aspects to pole that you can spend a lifetime discovering it all.

Charley- It hurts my feelings that you don’t want to be my friend.
