Looking for a used freestanding pole ASAP!
Posted by JennRN35 on January 29, 2014 at 2:51 pmI’ve been researching freestanding poles endlessly for over three weeks – the Pros & Cons between the Star Stand Alone and the X-Stage Lite, 45mm vs. 50mm, and the different finishes. I’ve watched ebay and Craigslist. I’ve even had a Craigslister text me back and forth for a few days and end up going completely silent just before I was about to make the 3.5 hour drive to pick-up. It’s driving me nuts! I have vaulted ceilings and I’m not interested in buying brand new. I’ve never poled but I am ready to get started. I can deal through Paypal for payment. Does anyone have a pole they are interested in selling? Or know of any site besides eBay, Craigslist, and StudioVeena that I could be looking for used poles on? Any other beginner advise is extremely appreciated as well! Thanks.

I bought the xstage lite for my first pole and now wished I didnt have the metal stage on the bottom to contend with. I love floor work as well and love transitions from floor to pole and moves coming off the pole into splits etc. not fun with the stage. Its also NOT as convenient to move around and transport and advertised. In fact I have owned mine a year and have never moved it. I am keeping it however now buying a Veena pole. Something to think about.

Check with xpole directly. Lots of times after conventions and such they sell the poles that were used in workshops for a decent discount. They’re not advertised so you have to call.

Thanks for the replies! I must say, I have always preferred the look of the Star Stand Alone. But there always seems to be better reviews towards the X-stage Lite. And from videos, the x-stage pole seems like it doesn’t away as much?

I have a SSA and I really like it. I wondered about the sway as well but in some videos the sway seemed to be the same…so IM not sure. It’s easy to put together and u can buy extensions for it.:)

Hi Jenn, If you’re new to pole dance I would suggest a full length floor to ceiling pole and not a stage. The stage will hinder floor work and it takes up a lot of floor space, also the “sway” is unsettling for a new dancer. A stage will cost more then just a pole will as well. I would ask if anyone is selling something other then a stage, look for X-poles and lil Mynx, these are very durable and can be mounted on vaulted ceilings when you purchase the mount for vaulted ceilings. 🙂

Another advantage of the Star Stand Alone is the ability to quickly lift the pole out of the base. I have an almost 7-year-old. I’d like to pole but without her going to school telling everyone about Mommy’s pole! Her father and I share her 50/50. So the days I have her will be treadmill days and I will pole when she isn’t with me. I could pull the pole from the base and move it to the garage or closet. And she can just use the base as her “stage”, as all she does is walk around the house singing! I’ll just leave the base set up in the living room all the time unless I expect company. Here’s a question… How do you other Mom’s handle poling around your children?

I would GLADLY save the money and get a pole for vaulted ceilings! Problem is that I rent. How can I keep from damaging the ceiling? And isn’t the mount on the ceiling even when you take the pole down? Surely any company is going to notice it and ask what is it?

The Lil Mynx has a disguise as a plant hook when pole is not up.

I rent and have 5 mounts in different rooms in my home! 3 lil mynx and 2 x pole mounts! Its only screw holes that can easily be filled when you move. 🙂

The larger mount is the xpole mount and the smaller silver is the lil mynx. Both are great poles.

To answer the question about what to tell your kids…well mine are grown but I do have a little grandson who is just 2. He plays on it (while Im watching) and we are just treating it as another piece of gym equipment. Of course he is not having friends over at this point either but I intend to just treat it casually. 🙂

What is the height of the ceiling? Our SV pole can be extended up to 10 ft 🙂 All the info on this pole is here including 2 videos one demonstration installation and one showing how easy the pole is to use. https://www.studioveena.com/shopping
