Rodney James–Mr. Burlesque?
Has anyone ever attended one of Rodney James’ workshops? This looks like an absolute blast. I went to his website hoping to see a schedule for workshops but didn’t find one. If anybody knows where he’s going to be I’d love to attend something within a reasonable distance. I’m in Ohio.

Roxi at Cleveland Exotic Dance in Cleveland has had him in a few times and Maria at Polesque in Kentucky has had him in once or twice. I have not seen him much in the US in the last year or so. I would take a workshop from him again, and if you know me at all that says a lot. I am not sure who is managing his tour any more.

As far as I know, something happened with his work visa. He was not able to complete his US tour in 2013. If he returns, I would definitely take another workshop. They were great!

On a side note, as pole has gotten bigger studios are realizing that some of the international “stars” do not have the proper credentials to teach and therefore are not covered under the studios insurance or do not carry insurance of their own. I am not saying this was the case with Rodney, but this has happened with others. This is yet another thing to consider when taking workshops…..if the studio does not carry the additional policy and the instructor does not have travelling insurance and something happens in a workshop you may be SOL.

We had a lot of fun with Rodney! It was an interesting dynamic that had a guy telling girls how to move, and to believe their movement.
He does ask for payment in advance now, which can be difficult for some people. I took a chance and was the first place in the UK to book him.I would message him on FB – as he mostly has conversations on there for bookings. He was managing his own tour when I booked him.
