Years ago my husband bought me a Lil’Mynx 50mm Static pole and I have always found it to be too thick for my hands. I am an average sized girl 5’5, 130’s lbs but I do have ridiculously small hands. I have never enjoyed using my pole because I’ve never been able to get a decent grip on it and I don’t feel secure. I have pretty much become an expert and walking around it – woopeee! Now that they have different thicknesses of poles I am considering a change but was wondering if anybody has an advice on the subject…does grip come with time? Maybe I haven’t tried hard enough to make my 50mm pole work within my hands? is there a significant difference between a 50mm and a 45mm – is it worth it?
    Thanks!

I had a 50 for almost 6 years– switched to a 45 two years ago and never looked back! It’s amazing how much of a difference 5mm can make!!! Totally worth it.
It makes sense if you think about the calculation for circumference. pi*d== 5mm*3.14=1.57 cm. Which is actually a big enough difference to change grip.

I also had Lil Mynx 50mm for first pole, then got 50mm Xpole (45mm weren’t available yet) I ended up trying a 45mm at a studio and loved it. I have an Xpole xpert 45mm titanium gold and love it. At my studio there are only 2 45’s, if they are taken I can practice on a 50mm which is good. But I LOVE the 45mm.

Hand-wise, going down is wonderful (IMO.) Leg-wise, I find it easy to adapt in size. I personally prefer smaller poles. I can’t grab a 50 all the way around it and it’s annoying.
