Any tips for putting up xpert?
Posted by Legs4Days on February 16, 2014 at 9:03 amIs there some sort of trick to putting up the xpert …..straight? It was very crooked…it’s so heavy…I will get help next time. Also when I tried to lower the dome from ceiling, I felt like It was turning forever. I finally had to really pull it to get it loose. I checked the adjuster screws and they were very loose. This is a gorgeous well made pole, but it quite cumbersome, for me anyway. Im trying again with my daughter’s help! Everytime I tried toget it loose from ceiling it would catch on another part of the ceiling which is a safety feature I know and that was impressive. My skills however…not so much. 🙁

I use a magnetic spirit level to get mine straight

I guess I need someone else to help hold in place while i crank it to the ceiling becuz it’s moving all over the place..Im just weak I guess lol. By the time I get it to the ceiling I fear I have missed the stud. Iknow it just takes practice tho ( I hope)

It is very top heavy so if you don’t feel strong enough for sure get some help. Sounds like you just didn’t loosen it quite enough. You probably over tightened it the first place (natural since you don’t want to fall lol) but just keep twisting and it will become short enough to just lay right down on the floor.

Sorry, I didn’t give you more help last night, I was watching a movie! Definitely use a level when putting it up. Have it tight enough so it won’t slip out too much, but lose enough that you can use the heel of your hand to hit/push the pole with while you’re using the level. It takes practice! One thing I did to help with putting it back up again was to mark the ceiling. I drew a very faint pencil line around the dome. Next time it goes up, I have some markings to follow, but I still make sure I use the level. It will get easier and the Xpole is worth it!

I thought of that too Lyme…they are pretty big aren’t they? Seems like it would def be easier tho..

Lol Saphyre, I did the same thing. I drew a circle around the dome too. First, I tried marking where the pole would be on the joist with an x. But when you put the dome up, it blocks your view. So, a circle is better! Also, when I first moved into my apartment, I put my pole right up (-: Didnt even notice my hardwood floors had no shine to them, so I waxed them. Now I have a circle on my floor too! My pole goes perfectly vertical every time I put it up.
But do check it with a level. Mine is magnetic. It sticks really well. But I caution you on leaving it on the pole while you adjust the height. I did that when I first bought the pole. The level fell on my head while I was adjusting the pole to the right height. Maybe I was just too excited and spinning it too fast. With all that said just BE CAREFUL & HAVE FUN! -
I’ve got a circle drawn round my dome too. And then the friend who was helping me put it up wrote “KATE’S POLE HOLE” inside the circle -.- haha

LoL u can tell we all love our poles by the care we take with them (assembly & storage) not to mention the money we dish on poles and gear.
Lyme thanks for mentioning the xpert ceiling mount. It looks like it goes up as fast as the lil minx. But how big of a hole do u need to put in ur ceiling to install? Saving this idea for a house -
Looks like I have overtightened an xjoint..it’s not in the pole tho..it’s just a single xjoint. I knew something was rong when I couldnt get it to connect pole A and B so I took it out.I wanted to really tighten them so they woud not rotate…and this is what happened! I went back and forth alternating tightening as well just like video. Now I cant get it to loosen so Im going to try the lubricant. Hubby cant get it loose with his “manly tools” either. Ive only had it up once and was trying to put it back together.
