I’m currently living in Northeast Ohio, and I am moving to Austin, Texas in the next week. I was wondering who all lives around the area. Where I’m at now is over an hour drive from the nearest studios so I’m not currently as involved as I’d like to be, but being in a new city I would love to meet new people and become more involved!

I live in the Cedar Park area which is a burb northwest of Austin. We have five major pole studios in the Austin area. They are Vamps, Brass Ovaries, Inner Diva, Sky Candy and ATX Pole. We also have four aerial arts studios. They are Brass Ovaries, Four Elements Yoga and Fitness, Sky Candy and Blue Lapis Light. If you live in north Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park or Plugerville then ATX Pole, Inner Diva and Brass Ovaries North studio are your best bets.
If you live in south Austin then Sky Candy, Brass Ovaries South, Vamps, Four Elements Yoga are better for you. You can try commuting across town but I don’t recommend it except for weekends. From my work in north Austin to a class at Brass Ovaries during rush hour took an hour and a half just to get to the studio. On a weekend it’s much better more like 45 mins.
I do have to say that all the studios are pretty friendly with each other. Last year the studios worked together to have an open pole jam that was hosted each month by a different studio. Each studio offers something a little different to set themselves apart from the others. We are blessed with a large, friendly, and supportive pole community here. Glad you are joining us. Hope to see you in a class soon.

Oops I forgot we also have a flying trapeze school in the south Austin area. You are moving to the land of plenty. Hope you are made of money. 🙂

I’m moving to an area right by the Domain. Not sure what the area is called… I will definetly check it out though! I’m super interested in pole jams and “open pole” sessions how often does that happen?

And Pam-thank you!!! I hope North Carolina is treating you fabulously!

Domain area is north Austin. The only pole jam that occurs on a regular schedule is at Inner Diva every other Sat at 12. They used to charge $10 if you weren’t a member but I’d have to ask to see if it’s still the same. They will also set up an open pole time for you for $15 as long as classes are not in session. The difference is pole jam has an instuctor and open pole does not. The only other option would be Sky Candy. They often have open studio time for 2-3 hours. They charge $15 to attend but given the time allowed that’s not bad. Only thing is I don’t know if their pole is part of that or if it’s just their aerial equipment.(lyras, trapeze, silks)
If you are looking to make connections with people I would recommend Inner Diva. I’ve beem going there for over 2 years. The students are super friendly, particularly the girls that attend pole jam, there is always an instructor present during pole jam who can and does answer questions about tricks. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

I’m definitely going to check that out as soon as I get settled!!! Thank you SO much for all the information, I seriously appreciate it.

Can I call to ask if I need to be a member or email? I’m not really interest in taking classes, just getting back into shape and meeting new people who share the same interest!

Thanks again for being so thorough. I’m so excited to check it out!

Inner diva has two types of students: members and punch card students. You don’t have to be a member to attend pole jam because punch card students attend all the time. But you used to be able to pay $10 for pole jam instead of using a class on your punch card. Depending on how much you bought your punch card for this might save you some money. Lately punch cards have been running $99 for 10 classes so it comes out about the same. Call or email them. Either way they will probably remember you when you come in. The only requirement for pole jam is that you have some experience with pole. They don’t want brand new never taken a class ever girls in there without at least 1 starter class.

I am definitely not a rookie. However I’ve never had “formal” training, but I’m very advanced, which is why I don’t want to take classes and repeat the same things I already know.

Next pole jams are March 1 and 15th. I plan to be at both so give me a heads up if you are able to come and I’ll introduce you around.

I am moving into my apartment on the 8th so depending on how settled I am, I may be able to make the 15… I need to find a job down there and get situated. But I will get ahold of you. Seriously, thank you so much!!

I live in the Austin area and have attended Vamps, ATX Pole, Inner Diva, and Brass Ovaries. My favorites are Vamps and ATX pole. If you are going to live near the Domain, you are probably closest to ATX pole or Inner Diva. I would suggest trying out a few of the studios, most have open studio times for $10. Welcome to Austin, the pole community here is close knit and very welcoming!

When does ATX have their open pole? I’ve never seen it on their schedule. I’ve been wanting to try them out.

Welcome to Texas!!! I cannot say much to the Austin area, since I pole in San Antonio at Soft Sensuous Moves. It’s a little far away, but I would recommend at least checking out the classes at softsensuousmoves.com. And since you are in the area, I would highly recommend going to the Capital of Texas Aerial Championship and Miss Texas Pole Star Competition. Good luck and welcome to the area!

Brooke, they used to have it on Friday, but the schedule has been changing lately. You should stop by for a class, it is a great sutdio!
