I seem to have noticed that the picutres I’ve uploaded lately (probably since the new SV was launched) look grainier than before. Mine are not of high quality, but they never were so it shouldn’t be that. I usually upload png:s, is it better to choose another format?

The resolution of images is actually better than it was before.

The previous version of the site used much smaller images which is probably why they seemed higher quality. When you shrink the images down as much as we used to, the formula used to reduce the resolution has the tendency to remove noise from an image.

My understanding is that .png will keep the image quality better than .jpg, so I would keep using the .png (anyone feel free to correct me 🙂

Due to the math of image compression format is not a concern unless you are going to have large blocks of the same color for something like a logo. Regardless all images are converted to jpgs on our server when they are resized.
