How do you get up from an invert!?
Posted by pink33 on December 26, 2010 at 7:29 pmI’m learning the ckr and car w/ veena. Still starting from the floor. HOW do I get up???? I normally have strong abs, but this just seems impossible?????

I use to do sit-up on the pole, at first it was hard but now it’s better. You don’t have to go all the way up, but that will help you. That, and working on pulling your legs up when holding your pole, like you would do for invert (tuck invert).
I have pole sit up in my first video if you want to take a look. -
It took me a while too sitting up from the ckr even though I thought i had strong abs. But keep practicing sitting up from a foot off the floor in your ckr. I was strong in my ckr/car but couldn’t just sit up initially. But wanted to perform this at a dance club so I did a bow and arrow from the ckr and slid down the pole in a bow and arrow sexyly landing on my shoulder and did a shoulder roll fishflop to the floor in the mean time untill my abs was stronger to sit up.

At first, I would put one hand on the pole and use it to push myself back into a sitting position because I felt like if I used my abs to bring myself up, that I would loose the pressure of my legs holding me on the pole and fall. So maybe try that? Use one hand to grab the pole behind your back and push yourself up and grab the top of the pole (above your body) with your other hand to push/pull back up. And eventually, you’ll be able to do it without any hands. Hope that made sense. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Pink….If you could post a video of yourself it would be easier to see what is going on. But with what you have said I'll give you these tips.
If your doing it from the floor you have to come up high on to the shoulders…. as high as you can, so get yer butt up there lol. If your too low it will be harder to get the right position for the legs. Then remember for both the CKR and CAR the upper thighs need to be in contact with the pole… as in fully tipped UP towards your body before you lift. Chances are its a placement issue and not lack of strength. You can do it!!
Remember you can always post a question directly on the lesson as well and I will get back to you asap! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Thanks Veena, I will post questions directly on lessons from now on. But you were correct…it was a placement issue, I was still to parallel to the floor, I really scooched myself up the pole and was able to do it! WOOT WOOT!
Now to work on the ckr. I think it's more a fear thing w/ it. Looking for some good crash mat right now.

Yay Pink! Its fine if you want to post here but I may not see the question. If you post them to the lesson I will see them for sure https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_elephant.gif
