If my hands aren’t on the pole, I have a hard time figuring out what to do with them and they always seem to be dangling about awkwardly. I’ve been trying to work on this little nuance, but end up looking over-posed, over-thought and completely unnatural. I feel like a product model on The Price is Right.

Any tips or tricks of what to do with your hands?

You could try placing your free hand on your hip.

If you're having trouble with your shorts/undies riding up during performance, you can always try gluing them to your bottom!  It sounds weird but I did that for a class video shoot and it worked great – I have some sock glue left over from when I used to do Irish dance (it washes off with water) and you can buy it online (this is the stuff I have: http://www.sockdreams.com/products/it-stays-roll-on-body-adhesive)…probably not too practical if you're just practicing though.

Other than that I agree with everybody else about playing with your hair and caressing yourself and all that – especially if you're doing floor work and want to draw attention to a particular body part.  Just move your hands super slowly so it doesn't look too forced or rushed.

    Work your body!!!

Seriously….play with your hair, feel your legs, play with your shirt/shorts. Just touch yourself suggestively (but not lewdly).

I have a horrible habit of pulling at my shorts/undies – I’m okay if I’m moving, I get stuck on what to do with my hands when I’m in a pose, like a scorpio or gemini. That is when pretty hands defeat me.

Easy….we just need to get together and play!
