    Hey guys!
So, I’ve been pole dancing for 8 months, but initially I treated it as an exercise, just to keep myself working out and having fun. 4 months ago something happened: I fell in love. I switched classes and started training with a different teacher, taking it more seriously and trying to train a little bit harder.

I’m starting to train flexibility a lot more, and I can tell I’m getting better, but I’m not really sure. I don’t have a habit of taking pictures to see how I’m doing so I came here to ask for suggestions on how to do that.

For example, some moves are really challenging for me, and starting them was hell, but now I’m getting more confident and I can FEEL myself getting better but I never took any pictures so I don’t really know?

And specially for the flexy part: should I take pictures weekly? Daily? How do you guys do that?

    😀

Yes if you feel they have improved 99% of the time they have! I record all my practice/stretching on film – some days i will just delete them straight away, sometimes i would be shocked i was doing a lot better then i thought and there are days i can tell i was not at bendy or straight as i think i was.
And if i want pictures i just screen shot them from the video – i find that the easiest 🙂

In the beginning I didn’t record either. I did some pictures but very limited. Now, I record everything I do at home and some at the studio. I don’t always keep them all but I like to have them tosee what I really look like and for progress. It is easy to forget what you used to look like and know how far you have come without the videos/pics.

I video a lot and have from the beginning. Mostly I use my iphone and also pull stills from the video. I haven’t taken pics or video of flexy training because I rarely do any–even though I need to. I delete most of the video and keep a few stills but it helps me see what I’m doing well and what looks awkward, etc. I recently bought a GoPro so I use that occasionally but I’m not very good at using it yet so I tend to go back to my phone. If I ever lose my phone whoever finds it is going to think I am a serious narcissist since most of the pics on it are of me!

Great thread! It took me forever to dare to video myself, however once I got over the nerves of having a camera running I found it such a useful tool, so now I record most of what I do. It really helps me keep track & often surprises me too.
Grayeyes, how do you pick out a still from a movie? I use iPhone too & edit my videos with iMovie, it would be such a useful thing to be able to do.

The easiest way to take a still out of a video on iPhone/iPad is by pausing the video and taking a screenshot. U do this by pressing the home button and “power” button at the same time. You can also get a free app called stillshot. It allows for advancing of video by frame so there are times you can slightly different shots with it that you can’t get from a screenshot.

Thanks for the replies, girls! I’ll definitely try recording my moves and taking screenshots from the videos!
Maybe I’ll start posting them here to hear what you think! I found this community to be very supportive and active so I’m pretty happy to be here 🙂
