Getting a pole!

So I spoke to my real estate lady today… She hates me, so I didn’t tell her I was thinking about getting a pole. But I did ask her if it would be safe to install a piece of exercise equipment in my garage (I’ve been worrying about the ceiling). I explained how it works… I think… And she said it would be ok! She said it would only be a problem if it were pulling down on the ceiling, not pushing up. I have 2 questions though. First, is the 50mm Chrome the one I should be getting? That’s the standard one yeah?
And what do people do for a dancing surface… I’m so used to wooden floors the thought of putting it on concrete is icky. Does anybody else have their poles in their garage? Would putting lino down work, or should I try and get some kind of wooden surface to put under the pole. And would that even work? What about like a table top, kind of like a stage? I’d love to know what everybody else does – do you just put up with the ickiness?

YAY YAY YAY im so happy for you!
50mm is standard, i have a 45 because i have tiny hands and its easier for me to grip it. as far as the flooring you could always go to a carpet store and get a big scrap of carpeting…although if you plan on dancing in shoes that might be hard although my pole is on carpet and ive never had problems dancing in shoes. some linoleum tile could work well too….beauty of the xpole is that it comes up and down so easily so you could definitely change the flooring if you wanted to switch things up. im so excited you get to have a pole!!!!!

I have my pole in the garage with a rug underneath. It sucks but it does the job! If I could afford it, I would have a dance floor put in mine.

Is there any way to check that it’s a genuine x pole? This seller says they’re a certified x pole stockist – is there any way to check that?
This is the one I’m looking at – Have to buy it before tomorrow though! What do you guys think?

Neke…I bought my x-pole off of ebay and it was legit! Two things that I would consider 1. do they have a return policy?? 2. Look at the seller rating. There are two definite signs that it is a legite x-pole (clear/whitish rubberised ring around the top of the dome and on the base there is a scribed "X". If these two things are missing from the pole, then you could return it. Good luck!

My pole is in my garage as well. I just put a large area rug under it and it works well enough. I have a 50mm chrome X pole. I’ve also used a 45mm as well. For inverts and hold I like the 50mm since you have more surface but for spins I like the 45mm since I have tiny hands.

I’m in a similar situation! At the studio I go to they have both sizes of poles. I was using the 45 and only a few times used the 50 but liked the 45 more. I haven’t danced a lot so I think that I could totally get used to 50 early on.what do you think? I’m going to buy my pole this week, most likely.

The size you choose depends on what you want to do with your pole dance. If you just want to pole for fun and fitness, then stick with the 45 if you like it. If you think you might want to dance outside your studio or home, as in, compete or dance in a club, then go with the standard 50. This is all great to know… I have a crappy pole and am looking to buy the X-pole soon… i think im going to go with the 50mm, but what is the difference between chrome and titanium? is one better than the other or is it just a preference thing? mine now is made out of crappy aluminum… what a waste of money!! also, are all the X-poles sold by Veena static and spinning? thanks!!

Chrome and titanium have different grips. Plus they’re different colors: chrome is silver, and the titanium that you’ll get from the US is gold (other countries have the silver…). Titanium grips better than chrome, so the chrome is more slippery. I suggest the chrome only because if you do that then you could practically hold onto anything, but if you’re not planning on switching poles or something then it’s purely up to you.

That’s been a popular question… I didn’t order mine through here because I needed an extension and Veena doesn’t have them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_silent.gif But somewhere else Veena’s answer was basically it purely depends on when you order it (if it’s over a weekend, etc) and where you live and such.
I ordered mine straight from X-Pole and it shipped from CA. I live in NY. I ordered it on a Friday, order wasn’t processed until the following Monday because it was right before closing, and I got it the following Friday. So you’re probably looking at a couple days min. up to a week max. I just read you’re getting a pole! I’m so excited for you. I have my pole in the garage as well and I bought some carpeting to put it on. It’s not ideal to dance in heels on but it may just be the carpeting I have.
