Hi there fellow polers, I apologize if the discussion already exists, but I am newish around here.. I am planning on finally getting myself a crash mat (I think I’ll get someone to make it for me), so I was wondering, how thick must it be to endure (godforbid) falls? I saw the ones that are only few cm thick, and I don’t want to overkill the size. Thank you.

I have a 5 inch thick crash mat from yoga direct & I think it’s perfect. It’s a little too thick to dance on but it’s perfect when you are working on new tricks. It’s very well made & thick enough to keep you safe.

My husband made me a crash mat out of carpet padding. It’s about 5-6 inches thick and it works. My friend has a real crash mat and it is about 5 inches, and it’s a bit more dense so it actually is more protective. I think the layer of thick foam (so expensive, can be found at crafting stores) is the big difference. I would definitely go with thicker…lol
