You favorite Warm-Up music
Posted by tacha666 on May 20, 2014 at 5:12 amHi everyone!
I need some music suggestions for my warm-up routines in class!
I usually start with 50 Cent – Candyshop or Shania Twain – Man! I feel like a woman but am sort of starting to get annoyed by them.
I’m looking for something similar: not too fast, not too slow and that puts everyone in a good mood 🙂What are your favorites?
Thanks!!tacha666 replied 10 years, 6 months ago 7 Members · 13 Replies -

following this thread! tacha-do you do the same music every class for warm-up (or have you been, just changing it when you’re tired of it)? I like that a lot!

Any form of EDM. It makes me just want to move. I hit pandora and let the music guide me.

johnssdeere, what are EDM and Pandora?
sparrow, I usually do the same warm-up routine (with little variations) at the beginning of each class. I found that music with a constant and dominant beat works best… I usually pick one of the two songs named before since they work perfectly, but yeah, I definetly need some variation. I tried other songs but they were either too slow or too fast or just boring.
It’s not very easy… -
EDM is electronic dance music. Trapp is really good too.
I have a bunch of playlists on my iPod that I used for different parts of my class. I will try to remember to get them when I get home. My warm ups were more motion based so I had a lot of more sensual type music.

Pandora is a website/app you can pick a genre, artist or song and it finds and plays other music similar to it. It’s free with an occasional 30 second ad or 3.99 a month with no adds (ands it’s off of your email so you can use the same pandora account on multiple devices)
-
However, I will warn that pandora is not legal to be used in a classroom nor is an iPod unless you have paid for music rights. There are lots of threads on here regarding it and a few studios have been fined (and it is getting more frequent).

i Heart Radio app streams stations from all over. You can prob find a station to suit your needs. They will have some adds more and then but you can jump stations. Just a thought if you are worried about Pandora fining you.

It is not Pandora fining you, it is the music licensing companies.

Two threads that talk about music licensing. I know there are more but you can look around. The one I think I linked a bunch of the other discussions about it.

Well we don’t have WIFI at the studio (just running it as a side job and only open for the few classes we have) so any sort of internet radio is out.
We use a really cheap tablet as an mp3-player which works well for us; however, I have to download music at home then load it up on the tablet.
Music rights is a very important topic in Germany, so I contactet GEMA (they represent all musicians here and make everyone pay) before we even opened. I have to pay 3% off all the money we make with our classes :-/

Shakira! A lot of her songs are great for warm up I think. Like Rabiosa, La Tortura, Can’t remember to forget you (with Rihanna) and so on. 🙂

Thanks Cecilie! I tried Rabiosa last night and it worked well 🙂
