  • I can’t view anyone’s videos.

    Hi there.
I have noticed that in the last day or so, I am having trouble viewing anyone’s videos. Every time I click to play a video it says Error Loading Stream: Manifest not found or invalid.

Has anyone else had this problem or is just my computer?

Lately I haven’t been able to view them on my computer, but have no problems on my iPad.

Johnssdeere, did it say the same thing- “error loading stream: manifest not found or invalid”?

That’s usually a server error, not on your end. The manifest is a file on the website that points to the video player and the video streams. Might have been moved or edited recently? Otherwise can be the url’s are incorrect but that again is from the server either the site or from the hosting hosting server.

The most common cause of a manifest issue on StudioVeena.Com is that a client browser has a malfunctioning or non-standards compatible plugin that truncates the uris due to a common data typing issue caused by very old toolkits conforming to very old standards. It appears to happen out of nowhere because it coincides with the install off the offending plugin which might seem innocuous at first.

As long as the plugin is a browser plugin and not malware affecting your TCP/IP stack you can test the theory by simply using a different browser. Sometimes it requires switching to a different computer.

Mills, no it didn’t, the sounds or background noise would come through, but the video would just be white.

If the video was white but you got sound the first thing to try is updating flash at http://www.flash.com

Just chiming in; I’ve gotten the same error message. Odd thing is sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. The same video won’t load one day and will the next. I get that same message though.

The address of the video resources change based on the date and time they are accessed. Thats one of the security measures we take to protect videos. The result is an address that can change in size and therefore the address trimming caused by faulty plugins might affect you one day but not another. It could even vary from minute to minute.

I am glad that I am not the only one with this problem! It was frustrating because I could not view the lessons for three days. I just tried to watch a video and it worked. It’s real funky.

If you have audio but no video, try restarting your browser. Some people get this especially with chrome and restarting restarts the video drivers in the browser. Or try another browser.

Are people still having problems? I have been trying for a few days and videos still won’t play and give me that “Error loading stream: manifest not found or invalid.” I emailed the site directly but haven’t heard back. Getting frustrated. Ideas?

Whitney, I sent you an email but perhaps it got lost in the ether somewhere. Here is what I wrote in my email I’ll include it here in case it helps anyone else.

Generally this means that you have something modifying base URLs. There are two things that can cause this:

    1) A faulty plugin or browser extension – Plugins and browser extensions that are improperly built often truncate your URLs causing this error.

    2) Viruses or malware will also cause this problem by truncating URLs.

There are two things you can try:

    1) Turn off all plugins/extensions in your browser.

    2) Download a new browser and give that a try.
