felt sick after aerial yoga
Posted by Legs4Days on June 5, 2014 at 9:50 pmMy first class in hammock/aerial yoga and I felt sick at the end. It didn’t start until after we wrapped up in the silk and just floated. Omg….but I dont feel sick on spinny pole. Anyone else have this issue and does it get better? I need ginger ale lol.

Yes lol. I would cocoon (relax, just curl up and swing) and would get such horrible motion sickness. It doesn’t happen as often anymore but I prefer to sprawl out on my stomach with my head out (propped sideways or on my arms) and I don’t get sick, and I feel like it’s more natural for me.

This is a strange suggestion, but it has worked for several friends, get into the move that makes you feel bad and hold a cold damp cloth between your hands. A chiropractor told me it helps you calm the body’s response. It’s so weird, but it works.

Are you breathing properly? If you do not continue to breath properly throughout the entire class, you can get dizzy and nauseous. Also, be sure you stay hydrated and drink plenty after class as well. Many moves in aerial yoga can srimulate the lymphatic system causing toxins to be released. So, if you are not drinking enough to flush those out you can feel sick as well.
You can also try wearing the pressure point wrist bands used for morning sickness during class.

Motion sickness wrist bands. Didn’t think of those working! They are available at most drug stores, but a lot cheaper online at amazon or eBay.

You can find the little wrist bands at any pharmacy like CVS, Walmart, etc. they are stretchy and have a little white plastic dot that is supposed to put pressure on a trigger point in the wrist. Some say they work and some say they don’t.
You can always take non-drowsy Dramamine or other motion sickness pills, but I prefer to try other remedies before resorting to meds
