I’ve just recently been released to exercise after the birth of my son, so I’ve considered taking up pole fitness. I was wondering how to build up strength, because I was just fooling around on one and can’t even pick myself up 🙁 I’m down to 156 and 5,2″ but this has gotten me extremely down

    Welcome to SV!

Veena’s lessons are great if you haven’t gotten them yet, I highly recommend them! You build strength as you learn & progress in pole but you can also do additional strength & conditioning exercises, which are in Veena’s lessons. Veena also has the 30 day take off, which gets people off to a good start, which has/is a mixture of beginning pole moves, floorwork & strength & conditioning exercises.

Btw we all started where you are with strength! It took me several lessons before I could lift my feet off the ground…it takes a little time but pole strength does come with practice.

Agree with Cali! We’ve all been there and veenas 30 days to flight is amazing. It might feel a little slow at times, but everything is planned that way for a reason and you’ll come out of it strong and ready to pole! If you do want to try a spin or so, check out some of the two handed beginner spins like the fireman. In the fireman you just sort of catch yourself as you fall to the side so it doesn’t require any “lifting.” It uses your own bodyweight to propel the spin, you just have to hold on!

The 30 days to flight is absolutely the best in my opinion though. I had to stop poling for months after a car accident so I had to pretty much start over. I did 30 days to flight exactly as it’s laid out (even when I wanted to skip forward!). Those thirty days made me a much better, stronger poler than I was even before the accident
