Looking for suggestions to ease the pain. Fairly certain this was brought on by non other than… me. My first 6 months of poling i almost always wore heels, but never stretched my feet. Ive read on metetarsalgia and improper shoe can def bring this on. I also broke a toe on that same foot 8 years ago, that may be adding to it. I started seeing a pt, he thought it Was plantar fasciitis. Those stretches are great and massaging abd icing it seem to be the most beneficial so far. But as far as dancing, its extremely painful to get on the ball of my foot, therefore im still pretty flat footed. I do wear foot udeez abd those can help ease the pain, or sticks to help me slide . However I’ve been doing the veena foot conditioning, and a few other stretches i found on YouTube. Seems like all the chiropractors, pt etc aren’t helping much, sure that day once my foot is adjusted and back in place it feels awesome but then the next day it’s back out. Ive found more relief in muscle taping. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!:) and go!

🙁 ugh. I had self-diagnosed plantar fasciitis a few years back… It hurts!!! You want to be careful about over stretching to let the fascia heal. I found rolling it out on a tennis ball to really help.

Also maybe seeing a podiatrist? I know you’re seeking medical care, but as someone who specializes in teeth/oral cavity… I know how impossible it is to know everything about everything. But it’s not just about knowing things, sometimes it’s about seeing things…

When someone is seeing feet all day it’s much more likely they will have come across someone with your particular pain and what helped them… Rather than someone who is seeing arms and backs and knees. Ya know?

You and your PT very well may be doing this and I haven’t checked out veenas foot conditioning so she may mention this too but I would make sure to massage and stretch your calves and front of your let legs also. I got a lot of this type if pain when I first started barefoot running and calf massage + calf stretching/shin stretch helped wonders. Most of the foot is just extensions of those lower leg muscles so if they don’t relax then massaging the foot is likely only going to provide very temporary relief. And on the plantar fasciitis part of the treatment and ice/massage, rolling on a cold soda can sort of does both at the same time and feels sooooo nice 🙂

And there IS the possibility of it being a stress fracture so if that’s the case then you would need to stay off of it for a 6-8 weeks

Don’t forget to foam roll and stretch the shin and calf in addition to the conditioning, massage and foot stretching of the foot😊

These exercises on pointing the toes might be helpful too. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/50c8ace5-5db0-439e-828c-6a350ac37250

Oh yeah! And on the rolling out tip, I got a TigerTail recently which is kind of a glorified rolling pin but not as hard and omg…amaze for calves and shins!

Thank you ladies, i will add this stuff to my “that foot” page in my pole journal:) def need to start rolling the fronts and backs , my big roller came with as rolling pin type one, never thought about using it anywhere other than my neck, thanks Lucca! And i roll my foot with a frozen ice water bottle… this is an interesting place to ice, in that footvalley so to say;) AK as far as the podistrist, that will be my next stop, hoping these suggestions will help and i won’t have to!:)
Veena i recently started journaling, that’s helping me your see what i am… and most importantly for my foots sake, what I’m not doing. So it’s been a month that I’ve been doing the pointed toe stretches, when done correctly those are hard!! I was only doing 5 reps 2 sets when i started, its Slowly increasing. 🙂 I’ve been incorporating foot and calf stretches as well, but not anything for the shin. Thanks for the tips, they are so so greatly appreciated=)

Hopefully you’ll get it sorted out soon! Also if you don’t have swelling heat really helps my injured foot, ice makes it worse, for me that is.
