I’m not sure there is too much, I think the X-joints are slightly different…
But if you were deciding on buying a 2013 or 2014 I don’t think is a huge difference. I could be wrong though.

Perhaps a better question is why are they different? Is the 2014 superior to its predecessors?

I know the joints are different slightly and the adjuster cover stays in place in the new version. I think they are just fine tuning the pole to be more user friendly and to prevent common issues.
-
The main difference I see is there is a little notch so that the x joints fit in more securely and don’t get twisted, which seemed to be a problem in previous models. It’s basically what would make the “broom method” necessary. Otherwise they seem the same

Dear Veena’s,
X-POLE has been working hard for the last 18 months developing and improving our poles and stages as well as adding new products to our range to give even more choice as the different genres of pole are introduced.
Our design team has really listened to all your comments – and those of our X-Pole International dancers – about our products and has been modifying and improving product specifications and functionality to address all those comments.
One of the reasons for our recent lack of stock issue’s has not been just from the flood (as reported) but also the introduction of these new 2014 improvements, some of which we have had to specially design new manufacturing equipment for and that has taken far longer than we thought.
However, production is now in full flow and whilst some ‘new’ items will still not be available for a while, the main line product ranges are rapidly coming into stock and we hope to have good continuity of stock from now on.
Key changes to the 2014 X-Poles are;
– New X-Joint with locking Key – this is a big improvement over the previous pin system and makes the X-Joints even more rigid. You can feel the difference.
– New improved X-Joint locking action to ensure joints are really tight.
– New larger Hex Key with rubber cover to make tightening easier.
– Fixed Adjuster Cover – no need to remove the cover anymore to adjust/lock the adjuster.(Xpert only)
– Special adjuster alignment system – to stop adjuster damage.(Xpert only).
– New marking system to stop over adjustment and simplify installation.(Xpert only).
– Increased screw sizes throughout – no more rounding off of critical screws.
– Improved static and spinning lock with larger flattened screw ends.(Xpert only)
– New improved polishing – higher grip on all poles.
– New strengthened Carry Cases featuring pockets for the pole tubes and not Velcro.
– New instructions with more drawings – makes installation clearer.
– New environmentally friendly boxing and inner tray – all paper with no polystyrene or foamAnd new installation videos up on X-Poles You Tube channel to help with installation of the latest X-Poles.
