Hi ladies….I’ve been inverting for quite awile now and just tried today in heels and it was wayyyy harder! Are there exercises I can do besides killing myself trying to unvert in heels over and over that would help me? Suggestions?

I learned how to invert in platform boots, and to this day I need to walk into my invert in order to build up enough momentum to get my legs close enough to wrap around the pole, if I’m wearing boots. Usually I catch the pole in between the platform and the heel, and adjust from there.

Try walking halfway or all the way around the pole then kick up, hard. Careful not to bash your knee on the back of the pole.

I would probably not kick up into the invert. if you have less control with the heels on then kicking up can be even more dangerous. you could try doing knee tucks with your heels on. that would build your strength without having to dangerously invert. try doing the side pole hold knee tucks, then try doing them with “V” legs if regular tucks become easy or if you want to put in a few challenging tucks. Can you tuck invert without heels on? I’m thinking if you are strong enough to tuck invert without heels it will make it much easier to invert with heels on.

I’m thinking if I walk around with ankle weights on? They already think I crazy at work anyways so who cares. Lol

Gee, I don’t know what to say. I learned to pole with heels and never poled barefoot (my feet are very sweaty). It’ll get better. Plus, heels can help your transitions look more graceful.

Just a case of drills! Tuck up and down with control. Get yourself into a little ball BEFORE tipping back. Learn to use your shoulders to take your weight so your feet can just lift off the floor.
Never attempt to kick or jump with heels on.

Before inverting with heels, work on inverting from the balls of the feet, if this goes well then move onto heels. If inverting from the balls of the feet is challenging work on that until you become comfortable. The technique when inverting with heels should be the same as without. Having a very strong side pole hold will be more important when you invert in heels because it will allow for more control when you feel like a deer on ice wearing heels. If your not using the side pole hold method for inverting then you may be relying too much on using the force of the feet to bring you up.
