    Hi there,
I fell off the pole on Saturday afternoon from a Marion Amber (I’m just learning it and I am pretty sure I lost my top hand grip). I fell onto the laminate floor onto the right side of my middle/upper back, not in my spine. It didn’t hurt at all nor am I feeling sore or pain in that area at all. I am feeling sore in my right butt cheek (really sore in arabesque position), not painful just sore like I need to foam roll it.
My question to all is…do you think I could be sore in a totally different area than the area that had impact with the floor??? I don’t recall doing any hardcore butt excersises on Saturday to make my butt sore, especially just the one side.
    Anybody experience something similar???
    Thx in advance!!!

After a traumatic injury, like a fall or car accident- it’s not unheard of to have muscle soreness in other areas of the body. I’m feeling brain dead right now and can’t give you a good/well-researched explanation. I’d only be worried if it doesn’t go away after a few days.

Thx for ur reply. Feeling less sore today. I was trying to think if I did one exercise more than the other on Saturday to be more sure in the right. I did actually teach beginner leg hold and push up for climb motion from ground with my right leg in back that day so maybe? Sore from that too?
    Thx again 🙂

Guess we all fell off of the pole on Saturday, eh?
I am glad you didn’t get severely hurt. But sore muscles do stink!

    Thank you for asking, Polewalker916!!
It’s currently in an ice bath. It’s hard to keep my foot in the ice bath since it’s very cold and it hurts. At the same time the ice bath feels soo good to the ankle. I am hoping the ice bath will help the swelling go down, since my ankle is continuing to swell.

I see an orthopedic in the morning, from there I’ll know how long I have to stay off of it. I still can’t put any weight on and the foot and it’s hard to get around the house to do anything. The pain has gone down some, but I am still at a very high pain level. (and the pain meds run out tonight) 🙁

It sucks but I am trying to manage.

How are you feeling? Still sore?

You’re doing no more than 15 min with ice and no ice on bare skin? Because too much ice will aggravate it and cause frostbite type injury, delaying recovery! Good luck healing Milla

It is my bare skin. I can’t hold my foot in for longer than 10 secs. So I will dip my foot, take it out and rest it for a minute, then dip my foot again, take it out and rest it, etc. I did this for thirty minutes.

I’m feel fine just a little sore in the butt cheek lol other than that my body feels the normal sore that I feel after pole. I think I got lucky and will now look into a crash mat

Hmmm, have you got any frozen peas (or ice cubes in sealed plastic bag) – which can wrap in a soft cloth (it MUST be in a cloth not touching skin) and place round ankle, while you sit down and have it propped up above heart level?

Doing this for 10-15 mins every hour, letting the treated area get warm again for at least 45 min is much better than ice baths. And less traumatic and risky.

I would consider getting an x ray too.

    (First aider not medic disclaimer)

I’ve had x-rays at the ER. I am taking them with me to the orthopedic tmrw. The ice bath sucks but it’s the best way to get ice on my foot. Especially since I can’t have my cast off for too long. As my ankle gets better I will switch to ice packs and frozen peas.
Now that I’ve done the ice bath I am keeping it elevated before I wrap it back up in the cast.

Wow they gave you splint. I work in an ER and we usually only splint for fractures/occult fractures or suspected ligament/tendon tears. Are they concerned that you may have torn a ligament? That’s a possibility if you fell while wearing heels.

Yep it’s a splint. It’s a hard cast on the bottom (made out of fiber glass) and then the top of my foot is wrapped in three ace bandages, plus it helps keep the splint on. They didn’t say anything about torn ligaments. I did fall wearing my 7in heels. I see an orthopedic tmrw so they’ll be able to tell me more about the ligaments and such.

I hope there weren’t any tears or fractures. But I am taking my x-rays with me so the specialist can see them. The ER nurses and Doctor weren’t very helpful. They hardly came into my room. And at the end they bandaged me up, gave me some crappy pain meds, and sent me on my way with crutches.
