  • Got the invert, what next?

Posted by Allgold78 on August 6, 2014 at 3:37 pm

Evening guys (or morning depending on where you are?!). So I’ve mastered the basic invert, yay. For those of you who helped last week the cramp problems seem to have been permanently fixed, thank you!!! My next problem is what do I do next? Any suggestions as to what to go into from that basic invert? I’ve got the lessons so if you point me in the right direction I’ll go learn 🙂

Congrats on the cramp issue! And on feeling great with your inverts. After learning the basic invert we started with variations like one leg, basic Scorpio and Gemini (hands on versions), and got used to having back leg off or front leg off, eventually taking two legs off (think I have a pic of me trying thus on my page). Also there is inverted crucifix where you take hands out. Oh where are you from anyways? Sorry being nosey xx

Working on being very comfortable in an inverted crucifix is very important. It will be a safe exit from other moves and you have to be very comfortable holding on with just your legs. From there I would say Gemini because that leads to other moves as well. Just follow The order of Veena’s lessons and you should be fine. I learned pole on my own just with her lessons and they are a great tool 🙂 Happy poling!!

    Great job learning the invert!
I’m right up there with you, needing ideas on where to go from there. Also, does anyone have any suggestions on graceful dismounts/ getting your feet on the ground from an invert besides sliding (so painful)? I’m not the most flexible person either so its been challenging just trying to find a graceful way down.

Yep, just follow the lessons, they’re in order. Also to mix things up so you’re not always working on inverts. Try working on some of the combos, there are 30 and they don’t require any inverts. 😊

Right, I’m on it! The hold with just your legs (having taken hands off from the basic invert) is much more difficult and painful than it looks so I’ll practice that a bit and I’ll take a look at the lessons, including the combos, thanks Veena.
