With the 1st day of a new year comes the start, or re-start I guess you could say, of a journey for me. 3 yrs ago I lost 80 lbs and discovered pole fitness. I fell in love. The past 6 mos have brought a new job, with a crazy weird schedule, a few health issues, depression and a weight gain of 45 lbs. Not to mention, I lost a lot of strength. Tricks that I could nail with ease, now take 4 or 5 tries and a lot of tears/disappointment. But today I am getting myself back in shape and healthy. I WILL nail those tricks again and I WILL lose this 45 lbs! So here is to all my pole sisters/brothers out there! May 2015 be the year you accomplish all you set out to, no matter what it is! Happy New Year!

I can appreciate some of your frustrations, I’ve been on steroids for the past 6 months and that’s piled on the pounds 🙁 I’m nearly finished tapering off so the plan for this year is to get back into shape and enjoy pole again!

I agree with Veena though, set small goals and don’t try to overdo things. Good luck with refinding your pole mojo 😀

I know exactly how you feel… it’s no fun to gain weight. I also packed on some weight 😛 I’m planning on killing it this month.

Good luck, we all wish for you the best :3 Happy New year!

I am in the exact same place. I poled regularly and then got a promotion at work and couldn’t keep a class schedule. (And I am definitely a studio girl). Gained weight and now coming back in, can barely do anything and GOD does the skin between my thighs hurt.

Thanks for the support! Let’s keep encouraging each other and we can do this! 🙂 I decided to give up the studio because of everything going on and it’s a very far drive. I tried to do a basic invert the other night and whoa! Couldn’t do it! I used to be able to nail them with ease! Started with a trainer today that I had yrs ago. Had a few moments where I broke down, but I know I will get back in shape. Did it once I can do it again. Hang in there! I’m taking small steps (even though i want to take leaps and bounds). Let’s conquer this together, ladies!

You are gonna do great!! I was loosing weight and working out several days a week before my wedding last May. After the wedding, we had lots of travel planned, between that and a hectic schedule, I gained back about 20-25 lbs that I lost and have also lost the ability to do some moves that I used to do like Shoulder Mount. It all became very obvious when we got home from Thanksgiving in Hawaii (lots of eating a drinking!) and I got on the scale. I have started a very strict diet and am doing Barre 3-4 days a week for strength, and pole and silks 2 days a week for fun. I lost 12 lbs over Nov and Dec!

You will get there and we will all support you, good luck!

So I’m almost 3 weeks in now. Down 4 lbs (41 to go)! 🙂 It was a little shocking when I went back to the gym, how much endurance I’ve also lost. Felt like I was gasping for air. Broke down a few times remembering how strong I used to be. Eating has been the most difficult part for me, but losing the 4 lbs has re-motivated me. I hope everyone is doing well too!

P.S. My ceilings at home are low. Makes it hard to climb. Any suggestions so I can get that back too?

Hi scubagirl have you tried climbing (as much as you can) then sliding down to restart without feet touching the ground? We do these as conditioning drills maybe it could work for your ceiling situation. PS good job on your work so far 🙂

Thanks ladies! @Tigerschic041721 – I will definitely try it. 🙂 @Tamarinda – Thank you! Yup… no matter how my mind feels, I keep telling myself that if I just show up and do what I need to, it will click for me. Not giving up. I want this too bad. 😉
