Xpole Question
Hey everyone, I’ve got a little question.
So, I bought an Xpole Chrome 50mm and I have the feeling that I just can’t get my grip tight/steady. It seems as if the pole is ‘greasy’? I do not have sweaty hands and I have tried liquid chalk but it doesn’t seem to help at all.. As for doing spins..I immediately go down to the floor.
I’ve been following classes (>1y) with the exact same kind of pole and there doesn’t seem to be a problem with maintaining my grip at all. Got any tips? I find it a bit frustrating. -

Are you sure your body and pole are warm enough? I posted something similar when I first started last year. Turns out in class we were just spending more time warming up, and many of those warm ups also warmed the pole…. but when I was at home I was trying to do things cold, and that just doesn’t work.

Try using steam to clean and warm the pole. Also be sure you and the pole are very warm and if all else fails try a grip aid combination of Mighty grip and .

Also, the x-pole comes with a layer of oil on it. The box mine came with had a note on it saying to be sure the clean the grease off before first use. It actually took me a good week to get the slick feeling off. I used ethanol (Vodka works too :-P). I haven’t used steam, but I would bet that a pressurized steam cleaner would expand the metal of the pole and leach out the oil that is hiding in the pores of it.

And no..I wasn’t warm and neither was the pole. Belgium climate = cold ;).
Definitely going to try the tips tomorrow! As for the grip aid..I should indeed look up something that ships to Belgium!

Hijacking thread for another X-pole question.
I notice that lately, if I screw the pole to static position, after a couple spins it loosens a bit. It will not go back to spinning position on its own (and thank god for that), but it always seems to have this half inch spinning back and forth rather than being perfectly static.
It’s not that annoying once I know to expect it, but I wanna be sure I am not breaking my pole… anyone else has this?

Yes, thats a common problem, sadly. But you can easily do something about it, it’s just the screw you use to tighten the pole (from spinning to static) that doesn’t live very long. I’d take it out and take it to the nearest hardware store (so that they know exactly what you want) to replace it.

Mine does that as well, and I literally got it a month or so ago… I thought that was “just the way they are” – should I maybe call x-pole about it?

Yep, mine wiggles on static mode as well. I’ve tried other screws to no avail.
One thing that helps temporarily (eventually over time it always starts to wiggle) is to get the screws as perfectly in line with the X marks as you can. I sort of stand over the pole and shut one eye. If I’m very careful and precise, I can get it so close that it doesn’t wiggle for a while.

Meggie, it’s not “just the way they are”. It should not rotate at all when in static mode. Either the spin/static screws are not tightened completely, and/or are not in the correct position (directly in line with the “X” at the base), or the screws need replacing, as someone suggested.

Make sure the three adjuster screws are in there nice and tight. It could also be that the pole isn’t tight enough or too tight overall. Make sure it is perfectly straight by using a level and that it spins freely on spin mode. Mine was doing the same thing when I first got it.

Mmh I will try setting it tighter or less tight and see if it helps. I am always uncertain of how tight is right, as there seems to be a lot of room between “it budges if you try to move it or spin on it” and “it does not spin freely”.
The screws are the original and it did that since the start, I think :/

When you adjusted the height were you sure to put the 3 adjuster screws on the flat part of the threaded section? When you are putting it into static are you aligning both screws up with the X’s and alternating tightening?

Hey guys! Whenever you have any questions about X-Poles, you will definitely get a more accurate response from us directly- just call our office or shoot us an email. We do not always see these threads in time.
The X-Pole does not come with a layer of oil on it. Sure there might be a bit of grease in some spots near the bottom from the factory (it is metal after all). But in my experience I have never seen a “Layer of Oil”.
Metal is slick- so unless you get brass or silicone or a powder coated pole, you will likely have to deal with grip issues at some point- we all do! especially when weather and climate conditions are humid/moist, or very cold and dry. we would recommend Dry hands or Itac- depending on your body chemistry. You have to see what works best for you.As for the other question- Call our office!!! It sounds like the two vertical screws below the adjuster cover need to be firmly tightened. If they are just a bit loose this will cause the pole to have some movement on static mode. Depending on the model of your X-Pert, they may be the 3mm hex key size.
