It’s going on 3 weeks of the flu and still can’t practice. I just started and was happy to conquer the pole sit, teddy and some basic spins. I got a feeling I’ll be starting all over again when I’m finally over this. I turn 50 this year and this was my present to myself to learn the pole and be in the best shape of my life. Upside I guess is I can tackle the 30 day challenge. Where can I expect to he in 8 months practicing 4 days a week? I know that’s a vague question. I have !y own pole and practice at home and have never been to a class. I just don’t want to still be a beginner on my birthday… I’d like expert, but intermediate at the least would suite me fine.

Hey there, I had made the same for my birthday. I keep trying to get to a studio, but studio r kind of crazy. I will keep trying,my private lesson were great. At least I was taught the basic for pole fitness. This my only problem private lesson works great and then you transition into a regular class wit little more understanding. Well good luck and keep me posted.

I hope you feel better soon! There is no time line for progress and we all learn differently 😊 it’s easy to become frustrated and discouraged if we focus only on needing to be at a certain level by a certain time. Enjoy the journey pole can bring! Have goals but be flexible enough to roll with the punches 💜

Thank you silkymiami that was so sweet. I struggle trying to figure out if I’m working on the right thing. I think the 30 day challenge will be a good starting place. I’ve only practiced about a dozen times so if I have the pole sit, teddy (barely) and basic spins and so so on the climb…is that good?

Thanks Veena. I love your instructions very detailed. Your site is the best!! I have your site and seeing Gretta Pontarelli as great motivation. Hopefully I will be back on my pole soon.

I spent the first 50 years of my life – striving. Striving to be a better daughter, mom, wife, employee, friend, athlete, person, etc. A few years into my fifties I finally decided to ease up a little and just live. Take care of yourself and give yourself the opportunity and gift of just enjoying the journey. Especially with poling where it seems skills come and go on a weekly basis!

    I’m 44
I’ve been poling 3-4x week since October 2013 and I’m a beginner at some stuff and intermediate at some stuff and advanced at others. It’s a cliche but we can’t all be good at everything and even pole megastars do not make it their business to nail every trick, combo, strength move, aspect of poling because it is impossible.

Find what you enjoy and do it lots. Me, I am a spin pole flow woman, that’s my bag. I work on combos and floorwork because it’s good to try these things, and I do yoga to balance and strengthen both sides. I can’t do everything but I will give stuff a shot. Then I will fly about on spin mode with my eyes shut because that is what pleases my soul. You might be a trickster. You might be a sex bomb. You might be a power pole machine. You find your thing and enjoy it. It takes a while. Enjoy the dance. And it is a dance, a flow, not a race.

as others have said….no timeline. I have been poling on the regular for over four years total, and I am not an ‘expert’ I don’t feel. In fact, I have found that the more we ‘get into’ something, the less we realize that we know or can ever really master. Those who are most likely to proclaim themselves to be ‘expert’ at anything, such as pole, are most likely beginners. 🙂

So, I hope you enjoy the journey. Sounds cliche, but it is THE most important thing. I hope you find a bit of your authentic self in your journey!

if it’s any consolation i have been poling for a year now i can do some advanced moves but i STILL cant do the teddy ! there is no set formula or rules for pole; everyone is different and learns different things at different paces =D
