    Hi Everyone!

I’ve been having a lot of trouble gripping my pole lately and it’s frustrating. I don’t know whether my hands are too weak, if I’m sweating too much, or if the pole is just too greasy. I’ve been using a mixture of water and alcohol to clean it (maybe too much water).

I’ve been using that mix to substitute for windex (which I ran out of). When I was using the windex my grip slipped after about ten minutes of practice. Now every time I grab the pole I have to turn around and wipe it! Any suggestions?

Hi If found ‘mighty grip’ was a god send when I had slippery hands. There are LOTS of good products on the market

Instead of water and alcohol use water and distilled white vinegar. It has helped me bc I have the same issue.

I am dealing with the same issue. I have a new X-pole (stage) and slip off of it no matter what I do/try!!! I do love Dry Hands, its amazing. I’ll try the vinegar mixture. Hairspray has crossed my mind to tell you the truth!!! I am a RANK beginner at this pole fitness, but I love it. I go to a wonderful studio with incredible instructors. The positive atmosphere is so good for the attitude and I forget about the slipping, bruises, and lack of strength!!! I want to be able to practice and somewhat conquer new moves at home so when I go to class, (which I might add, has the stickiest poles ever) I’m not such a klutz!! Any more ideas will be greatly appreciated!!!

I was thinking about getting gloves, after paying attention closely, I realized in the beginning the slippage was from to the pole not coming clean enough when I wipe it. But now I noticed it’s because I sweat. I figured the gloves would give me a better grip as I built strength in my hands. But I feel like I’ll become reliant on a grip aid or gloves and so I’m hesitant. To counteract the “nervous hand syndrome” I dry my hands along with the pole. But I still slide a little bit. I think I’m going to try the vinegar first. If that doesn’t work….grip aid here I come lol.

Try ” Poletice” .. it’s all natural and stops the sweat. If you need extra grip you can even combine the black one with mighty grip

I have been using dry hands which I layer on through out my practice. Howver one of my instructors actually uses a wax on her body and nothing on her hands. We use brass poles in our studio with the exception of 2 chrome poles which are surprisingly sticky once it is warmed up. Maybe that is my body chemistry with the material the pole is made from combined with the dry hands/alcohol and water solution. Unfortunately I have been having problems with sweaty hands lately as well. Perhaps as I advance through my practice I should try something else? What do the polebs use?

I have a lot of issues with slippy grip too, I recently found out that I have the best grip possible on stainless steel, but until I can get a steel pole I use a powder coated one and I clean it with rubbing alcohol, highest percentage I can get, the for my skin I wash my hands and then use tite grip, after that’s dry I add mighty grip and that usually does it, but sometimes on extra sweaty days I have to add a little corn starch baby powder to help soak up the sweat, and then I rub the pole down with the baby powder. also theres a website, everythingpoledancing.com I believe, and they have a sample pack of grip aids that you can purchase and try out, mine had like 6 different grip aid samples 🙂
