I can’t find a lesson on Stargazer. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get into it? I want to try it today!!

The best help I can think of that it’s more laying the pole vertical between you calf and thigh than it is putting it in you knee. Let yourself sink into the grip and you won’t fully feel it until you lean back. Good luck!!

I get into it from just a pole climb. climb pole , hook leg high. as your body sinks down your top leg grips the pole. the top leg grip is very similar to the grip you have in a CKR. Like feliciajean said, it is not a knee pit grip, it is the pole being squeezed between the calf and thigh. if the leg hook is too low it wont grip till you drop down into the move. so I find it easier to try to hook that leg high from the start. you find the grip sooner. sqeeze the muscles of the leg gripping the pole. the bottom leg can stay in that hooked foot pole climb position. some people do stargazer with the bottom leg completly unhooked, that’s only if you have a very secure grip with the top leg. I would not hold onto the foot of the hooked leg, it will mess up your knee. if you dont feel secure, hold onto the pole instead. but this is one of those moves that feels more secure as you let your body sink into the pose and gravity helps you to find the grip. I would think maybe having a good CKR would be helpful but not completely necessary.

Cross knee release or a figure 4 layback. kinds of the way that top leg is positioned, but its actually gripping the pole even more between the calf and thigh. 🙂

Ok yup 🙂 the studio I learned at called it cross leg recline it was my favorite move before my tailbone started acting up. Now that it’s removed I’m home I can back to doing laybacks soon!
