I’m sure there is a discussion about this but can’t find it. I need better crash mats. Low cost options preferred but it is more important that I stay safe. What I’m using is not adequate. I prefer being upside down to upright so I need to take better precautions. Also, are there any good videos that teach how to fall safely? I practice by tucking my chin in, slouching and rolling but would like to know if that’s the best way. Thanks!

Couch cushions are always a cheap way to go if you have them! Otherwise try something like this I bought 2 for around my pole http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0016BUR9G/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?qid=1438989575&sr=8-9&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=workout+mats+for+home

Chin tucked is always a good thing to practice!

Maybe you could do a video on falling safely?

I love my yoga direct mat I got from Amazon it’s perfect!! I also use mighty grip mats at the studio those are nice too and I think less expensive.

@jesspole265601-how thick is that mat and could you confirm the name of the store where you got it? Not familiar with the store you mentioned. Thanks!

I don’t live in your country that’s why I didn’t mention the name of the store.. Just to give you an idea. It’s not online.

Rephrasing question. Does anyone have suggestions for purchasing crash mats that can be shipped to the United States. Preferably 4″ thick. Thank you.

Anybody have any ideas for a larger mat ? i am working on pops and I just ordered the yoga direct mat – it looks fine but is so small I need to put other pillows around it in case i fall and miss the mat – it is also not quite large enough (at 5 feet) so 2.5 feet each side for my handspring stance so still a bit awkward

    Any ideas?

I bought a full size 6″ thick memory foam mattress (75x64x6) from Amazon to use as a crash mat. Was less that $130 (free prime shipping)and my husband cut a opening from side to center to fit my pole. All I have to do is slide the pole through the opening and it’s like having a full-size bed under your pole. Additionally, it came with a zippered cover which is nice for keeping it clean. When not in use, I just stand it up against the wall. Works very well for me!

A memory foam mattress would be awesome. They are very thick and would certainly break a fall. Can you share which seller you purchased it from? Thank you.

@Cat, I hope the link and image works. It’s the Sleep Master 6-Inch Smooth Top Therapeutic Memory Foam Mattress and I’ve been very happy with it thus far. There are tons to choose from but I opted for this one because they’d ship to my location overseas and it had great reviews. The price has fluctuated a bit since I bought it but I don’t think you’d be disappointed at all:).

You’re going to laugh but we used an electric carving knife:). Zipped right through the foam!
