  • Preferred athletic tape for callus rip?

I’ve been fighting a persistent callus rip on my upper palm, and I’m looking for a good athletic tape that will hold up to pole practice. If I didn’t have a competition coming up, I’d just take it easy.
A lifter friend of mine suggested Goat Tape, but it’s really expensive. The guide here suggested covering a band aid with regular medical tape, but I’m worried both will mess with my grip. (https://www.studioveena.com/blogs/view/5004aa20-a2ec-45d6-bf5a-490b0ac37250)

    What works for you guys?

I don’t know how any tape will hold up with poling, never tried it. But another option might be mighty grip gloves . Try the pro- skin gloves if you go that route. They are more durable than the original mighty grip gloves

I take that back. I just checked their website and it says the pro-skin are not for pole. So weird. I bought mine last year or so and I thought they were suitable for pole. Not sure if they changed their product or what. I love the original glove but truthfully it doesn’t last very long and breaks after a few uses. I’ve had 3 pairs and they all tore apart after several uses but worked great before they broke. I’m kind of bummed to see the pro skin are not for pole. They seemed to hold up better

I don’t have a recommendation for tape or gloves, but I use Winnie’s Rip Fix for mine when the skin rips. I put it on several times a day and it does a great job of healing. My sister got some road rash on her hand and it also did a great job of healing. I would absolutely recommend it any day of the week! http://www.winniesripfix.com/

Hey there Arcsis! Mighty Grip offer several types of gloves that may work for your rips:

    1. Non-tack Glove: This glove will let you rotate around a static pole. It is not recommended to gain strength in lift as these movements will tear the material for this type of glove.
    2. Original Tack Glove: This glove is meant for spin pole. It is not recommended for rotating as this motion will tear the tacky material.
    3. Pro Tack Glove: This glove has a more advanced tack and is recommended for advanced lifts and grip. This glove is not intended for any rotations at all.
    4. Pro Skin Glove: This one is super thin & soft. It is typically intended for lyra and other hanging apparatuses to shield the skin. It isn’t recommended for lifting.
    5. Pro Fit Glove: This glove is super padded and super soft. We recommend this for gym fitness and heavy lifting.

Sometimes rips in our gloves can be caused by sizing issues, the way they are taken off, and the use of the glove (i.e. If you use a tack glove for static pole).

Check out our glove offerings and let me know if you have any questions about them! 🙂 http://mightygrip.com/products/gloves/
