Go to a doctor!!
Any pain that is that strong and lasts more than two days, especially if it is affecting your regular movements, really needs to be looked at by a professional! -
I once pulled my lat from coming out of inverts when I was still pretty new because I hadn’t worked up my back strength to match my ab strength. It sucked. Any kind of twisting or stretching movement was pretty uncomfortable. It took about 4 weeks before I was back to 100%. During those 4 weeks I took ibuprofen to reduce swelling and speed recovery and wrapped my back at night. Sleeping was really the most troublesome part for me since I tend to sleep on my stomach, and that is soooo bad for your back, so had to make great efforts not to do that. Take it easy. Take it very easy. Do not do any inverting until you feel 100%, and even then, do not rush back into all the things you were doing before. Take ibuprofen, do some light stretches. Be patient. If it’s problematic enough and you are able to, see a doctor. Once you’re healed up, make sure to work on strengthening the back to prevent the same injury from happening again. This is just what my experience was like. Everyone is different, so make sure to listen to your body!

Spoke to a out of hours Dr last night and I have pulled my muscle it hasn’t helped that I had a viral infection a month ago and still have a cough , so every time I cough it is tearing the fibres which is why it is taking its time to heal and I am now experiencing the pain when I breath and cough , was booked in for some lessons locally which I will now proberly lose my money for because I have needed to cancel 3 times now , first time I could not find the place , second time took my husband to help me and still could not find it and now this !! Not sure I’m meant to go there , I was also attending a Wednesday class which is where I done this , felt so silly I didn’t mention to the instructor at the time just said I was tired , but she asked me to keep trying the Gemini and butterfly as I needed to master this before moving on to other things

Is there anything i can be doing while i am recovering that does not involve my upper body while recovery, am i best to start with the 30 day programme so i can stretch etc
-
I would wait to start any of the programs here as they are both complete, meaning I cover the whole body! However If you wanted you could just skip any exercise that did use the lat, I do have muscles use listing in most descriptions making it easy for you to tell. 🙂
I have a good bit of floor work and some routines that focus on lower body that you would work on while you heal!

Just wanted to update you , after a week of being in pain decided to sea physio regarding my injury as I thought maybe strained or torn muscle as per advise of out of hours doctor but my physio advised to go straight to a &e with a suspected broken rib wanted it checked before he did anything with Me and seems he was right not cracks in my spine which is good just my rib so am now resting much to my disappointment as I was just getting started with my pole journey , I think it hasn’t helped with my cough which I have had since 5 weeks

Is it possibly you actually injured it coughing? My husband broke a rib from coughing before. People teased and said he must be really weak… But apparently it happens to athletes and people with strong muscles actually… Strong enough to break a rib when they contract… That’s what he said anyway 😜

I guess I will never know but just assumed it was from class because it was fine before hand then I was doing the butterfly and Gemini and it was sore after this

In glad you know what’s going on now! Wishing you a speedy recovery! 💜
