Hey all! So I’m really getting into poling now, but I’ve had to take down my pole because when i tightened the pole, the ceiling would appear to lift at the cornice where the wall and ceiling meet. I hope that makes sense. I did find a beam in my apartment (which is a rental place) and placed my pole there, but like I said, a small gap would appear just under the ceiling cornice whenever I tightened my pole. Has anyone experienced this and been able to fix it? I’m scared to put my pole back up in case I rip a hole through the ceiling haha. I’ve included a picture of what I’m talking about 🙂 I’m missing pole at home so badly, and lessons at my studio can be pricey.
    Any ideas?

Hopefully the pic makes sense 🙂 the arrow on the bottom left is where the gap would appear from xpole tightening, and the beam was parallel to the right side of the light.

Your sheetrock should be secured tighly to the beam so I can’t figure out why it would move at all unless it wasn’t properly tightened to ceiling joists.

I’ve just taken another quick picture, and in it you’ll be able to see where (I’m pretty certain) the beam studs are sticking through the drywall. I placed my pole where the last arrow is.
