New Pole Activewear Brand ♡
Posted by Sugar Bunny on November 22, 2015 at 10:45 pmHi Pollerinas,
Sugar Bunny is a relatively new activewear brand set to launch in the New Year. At this time we believed that there would be nothing better than to communicate with a pole community.
We also have some questions. Your feedback and ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Would polewear made of 92% Cotton 8% Spandex be something you would consider purchasing?
Are purchasing sports bras just as important as purchasing pole shorts when ordering online?
Do you prefer to purchase individual pieces or sets?
Kind Regards,

I have quite a few boyshort underwear that are cotton based that I wear for pole and honestly, it does not hold up as well as the synthetic fibers. It also shows sweat a lot more than synthetics and fades with washing. when I am buying shorts that are under $10 this is not so much an issue, but if I am spending what most pole shorts cost, I want those suckers to LAST.
If more manufacturers made front closure sports bras I would buy more online. There is nothing like getting stuck in your sports bras either trying to get it on or off (traps anyone??). I have ripped my share of stitching on sports bras and again, when they are typically $40 and up I am not going to be a happy camper ruining it the first wear.
While I would love to have stuff that matched most of the time I really don’t much care. The only time I do is if I was performing routinely and needed something that was matching.

I agree cotton doesn’t hold up and tends to become too baggy, at least for bottoms. I don’t care about matching sets and I buy more bottoms than tops. I like bikini tops for pole. 👙

I agree that it fades. Plus it starts to get too stretchy.
There was another thread about shorts. You might want to think about the girls who don’t like to show to much but still want to be sexy. I know I am one of them. I have too much junk in the truck and want to find shorts that don’t ride up.As for sports bras, look into the one shoulders. Those are really popular but make sure you have both options and long enough so you boobs don’t come out. 😉

Sports bras are just as important as the shorts to me. Strappy and sexy, please. For pole I am not as concerned about it being super supportive like I would want for a sports bra that I plan to jog in but if you can do both that’s a huge bonus and I would buy it in a skinny minute. I would prefer to buy individual pieces but would still like them to match if possible–different combinations of tops and bottoms in the same colors or patterns.

Sports bras I want 4 things:
– not too low cut because when inverting I want breasts to stay inside!
– cut to take my increased musculature into account – many sport bras cut into my lats
– spider back/strappy back to show off muscular back
– wash wellShorts: I want
– wide gusset preferably diamond shaped.
– scrunch tie sides to adjust cheekiness/shortness
– fold down wide waistband
– wash wellNot bothered about non-cotton as unlike regular underwear I am not spending hours in pole wear. I want it to absorb sweat and hold its shape more than I want breathable cotton.
Sets of shorts and bras – I would choose coordinated rather than exactly matching. A mix and match set of 3 shorts and 2 bras that all work together would encourage me to buy the lot!…
Good luck with your venture! Great you asked polers for their input pre-launching!

I recommend selling tops and bottoms seperately as many of us don’t have standard matching sizes. That was always my problem when buying bikinis – need a top in one size and bottom in another.
Best of luck! -
Many thanks for your responses ladies.
So far we are designing and manufacturing two types of pole shorts, one more of a bikini brief and the other a hipster boy short.
As for sports bras we’d definitely like to get into this area and have picked up all the excellent ideas you have suggested such as the single shoulders, front zipping and detailed backs.
Sugar Bunny will definitely look into other threads here at Studio Veena and keep you up to date with all of our progress.
Thanks again!

I know I’m in a bit of an unusual boat with my chest size, but I wear a 34FF (sometimes 32), and I’m always really sad because I can never wear any cute tops/sports bras for pole because they all often lack underwire (the ones that have it look like beige orthotic devices). I often fit into the size M pole shorts of coordinated/matching outfits, and then I’m completely out of luck when it comes to being able to fit in the the matching top. There must be more than one ample-chested pole lady who also faces this dilemma!
If you made even just *one* style of “cute” sports top that had an underwire and was sized by cup, instead of S, M, L, XL, I would buy one in every single color available! I realize that expanding into that level of size offerings adds significant complexity to production, but it is a niche that no one has filled. The top doesn’t have to be so supportive that I can jog in it… but just having enough fabric to cover the “girls” and some underwire to make sure they don’t look saggy would make a world of difference (the elastic band on regular sports bras simply isn’t enough to hold things in place when they’re that size…)
Just my two cents! Best of luck with your new company!

Kimmaaaaay – You’re not alone. I’m about a 34 I and it sucks, because I can also never find nice tops that fit- either you fall out the bottom or your boobs are being squished out.
I actually did a whole big post about larger chest sizes a while back, and had some links to some great sports bras and stuff that could pass for tops, especially in a pole class.
But trust me… you are definitely not alone in this! -
I am about average size and I do not have a tiny waist so I look for shorts that aren’t like crazy high in the waist that come up to your belly button but also aren’t super low and create a muffin top. This is why fold down shorts are useful as ladies like me appreciate being able to adjust where the shorts fall depending on how we’re feeling and looking that day. Another problem with shorts seems to be a straight seam up the crotch. Not only is this a problem for looks but the wear and tear on shorts can lead to the seam ripping. Having a reinforced crotch area like you see in other dancewear (like for ballet dancers) would be appreciated. And just because we want more coverage on the top of the shorts does not mean we want long shorts in the leg area, as we still want to do tricks where you need that skin available. I find sports bras easier to buy when made by athletic companies rather than brands for polers, as they seem to have more sizes and seem to have more support. I don’t like super thin and see through tops. I like just a bit of padding to tone down any high beams, and I like enough coverage to prevent spillage. I love interesting designs across the back. I prefer fabrics and colors that keep you looking dry even if you’re working hard and sweating at the gym or in the studio.

I’m really glad you’re asking for input from polers before making the product!
Personally, I really just want functionality, comfort, and modesty (while still showing enough skin to grip the pole of course) from my pole clothes. While it would be neat for my pole clothes to somewhat coordinate with each other, it’s not that important to me. I agree with everyone about preferring synthetics over cotton.
Also, though I’m happy having fewer sports bras than pole shorts, it’s definitely just as important to me to have good sports bras. What I want out of sports bras:
– Cups, cups are more supportive than traditional compression sports bras
– Not too restrictive, I hate feeling suffocated by a too-tight sports bra and I don’t like looking in the mirror and feeling like my breasts have disappeared
– Minimal (and ideally no) fabric covering my traps so I don’t slip in shoulder mounts
– No metal or plastic pieces, I’ve bruised my back from doing rolls/shoulder stands wearing basic bras with a plastic clasp (also, while I understand why a lot of women would want a front zipper or clasp, I personally would dislike it as I do a few tricks that involve my sternum on the pole and I don’t want to scratch the pole or myself)I’m a fairly small-breasted woman (34B), so I haven’t had too much issue putting on and taking off sports bras.
What I want out of pole shorts:
– Full coverage in the butt
– Wide (preferably diamond) gusset, no front seam
– Side tie would be really nice so I can adjust how much “side booty” is exposed for things like brass monkey
– No pucker-butt, that’s an instant wedgie for me!
– No fold-over waistband, it will only ride up my waist and I end up adjusting a lot while I’m on the poleAlso, even if it says hand-wash I’m going to end up machine washing it on a delicate cycle and possibly machine drying it on low heat.
