I started pole classes a few weeks ago and am addicted. I am interested in purchasing an x-pole static & spinning pole, or a similar one to be able to practice throughout the week what I learn in class. I have a problem with sweaty palms when I practice (otherwise my skin is typically very dry), but I have practiced at a local park fireman pole and LOVE the feeling/grip of the acrylic coating (I feel a lot more confident, have more fun), so I am considering a powder coated x-pert, which I assume to be similar in grip/coating…

I want to purchase a pole that will be good for a beginner — I don’t want to learn on a pole that will encourage bad habits, or be a detriment to me if in the future I ever want to compete, but I also want to invest in a pole that I love practicing on. Any recommendations?

45mm powder coated Xpert or Lil Mynx are both great. Stick with X Pole or Lil Mynx. Don’t get a cheap toy pole.

I agree, stick to a quality brand. However, standard finish is Chrome. I also have sweaty hands, I recently discovered Tite Grip and it works wonders. You may want to try. I use Tite Grip about 30-45 min before my pole session and Dry Hands during the session. I also use iTac extra strength on my body: inner thighs, etc.

If you really like the grip of the playground poles, Powder coated will be the closest! As they’ve said go with a well known pole like xpole, or lil mynx. I don’t feel there is a pole that is more suitable for beginners, it’s about preference, and that often has to do with climate and skin type. I have both brands and enjoy them both. The xpole will allow for more height options than the lil mynx, but the lil mynx goes up and down faster!

I bought a Lil Mynx stainless steel when I started and now wish I had powder coated. I knew the stainless was generally considered more slippery but I thought it would just make me stronger. I imagine that it has but I also believe it limits me somewhat. I love the playgroud poles too. Some day I’ll probably get a powder coated.

The other thing I love about Lil Mynx is the ease of change from static to spin with the simple push of the button.

We’ve never sold lil mynx, lil mynx had created a pole for us, we only sold that one pole. The Studioveena pole has been discontinued because they we unable to continue with the special paint job. We have always been an xpole distributor but haven’t always had a link for the pole. I love and have both brands.

I feel that some playground poles are narrower than a 45mm pole, so check your hands first in case a 40mm pole might be better- I sometimes think 40mm is better for me than 45mm, because I have small hand which are sometimes lazy and don’t grip properly.
