Hi y’all! I have lots of aerial experience: silks, hammock, lyra, and a little trapeze. My studio is closed due to the quarantine so I’m doing a lot of pole at home. I’ve done some of flying pole at my studio so lots of things transfer nicely. Our flying poles are a silicone pole and a taped pole. For the silicone and taped poles we wear jeans but I know on the metal poles “less is best” as Veena says. GUYS….MY SKIN. Does it get better with time? Is there a trick? My inner thighs are DYING, my armpits are DYING, and I don’t even want to talk about my knees LOL I’ll take ANY advice! I don’t even want to walk because the already tender skin rubs together LOL I need your help!!!

Welcome! It does get better, but it will take some time and its different for everyone. Also some moves never bother my skin much, others, yikes! One thing I tell new dancers is limit your attempts 10 tries. This helps with bruising and pole burn. Try some aloe after as well.

I got my lyra out for the first time in ages on Wednesday and killed my hands after 45 mins, lol so I have the opposite problem. Now I have to wait for my popped blisters to heal before I can do any pole or lyra…first world problems hehe

Thank you Veena, I’ll check it out! I was definitely making more than 10 attempts LOL
Amelia2000, I’ll always have a soft spot for the lyra, that was my first foray into the circus world. LOL My problem with lyra was always the bruising lol. I already bruise easily and when I started doing drops on the lyra it looked like I’d been in a fight LOL
