Last night I did the caterpillar!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I’ve been trying to work on those holding-you-from-underneath moves I asked about a while back and this was something suggested to me, and I haven’t been able to do it. Problem: instead of pushing my body away from the pole first then up, I was just trying to push myself straight up. I was convinced I’d fall if I pushed myself out first, but my knees didn’t fail me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I can’t quite do the climb yet because I’m not strong enough to hold my weight to move my legs up, but I’ll get there! I took a vid of it, but it’s really dark… stupid camera.

Another move to help with this kind of strength that was suggested was the extended butterfly. I’ve been trying to do that one, too, and had a breakthrough last night. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what I was doing wrong! Well I finally got that, too: I thought you turned your whole body sideways so your facing out away from the pole at a 90 degree angle (did that make sense??? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif ). I kept staring at that pic on Wikipole… and I felt like an idiot when I realized your just leaning farther back away from the pole with your body… the only thing turning is your hips. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif Stupid me. I can’t quite get it yet, but now that I know what the frick I’m supposed to be doing, that should be coming soon.

And while I’m at this whole writing an insanely long post thing, I’ll just add that I’m trying to work on left side inverts still… I’ve gotten better with my right side about not kicking up as much and getting my hips up to the pole without grabbing with my leg and pulling from there. I’m kicking the ceiling and dome on the pole a lot more, but meh. I tried doing it the same way on my left and I couldn’t do it! I’m lucky to get the leg up there… I feel extremely lopsided. But I can do a caterpillar from that side too, and I’m working on just getting stronger with getting up there and being used to that position before I try any moves. I tried a butterfly but kept getting confused because I was so used to doing it the other way… almost fell. Not good.

Ok there’s the updates with me. Sorry this is so long… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_dwarf.gif
