So I am a beginner and I did very well on my back hook and now when i try to come up with routines I am hitting my ribs against the pole. I really feel like when I practice I hold on to tight and tense up and I don’t know what to do about it. Would that be from holding to tight?

Sounds like your not starting far enough away from the pole, and your hands might be too high up. You want a hips width distance between you and the pole, arms just a tiny bit above head hight….not wayyyy up high, then you are to close to the pole. Do you have a vid? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
