    I was talking to polesnagger in chat and she went into great detail about doing the knee hold. Yesterday I tried it for the first time and I sort of got a feel for it but was still unsure about letting go even though I was using the chair trick to steady myself. I think I didn’t want to let go because my shin on my left leg (which was on the bottom) is all bruised and it was pretty painful to have the pressure from the pole on my shin. Did this happen to anyone else or am I doing something wrong? I’m hoping it’s normal since I got pretty banged up learning a lot of other moves. Also if anyone has any other tips for getting this move down, that’d be great…I think if I let go I would be okay but the whole being sideways thing is kind of throwing me for a loop :-p thanks everyone!

    I don’t know if it’s just the way you’ve wrote it, but I just thought I’d clarify that it’s not your bottom shin thats against the pole. It’s more the (inside) side of the bottom leg which is (and thats a little more protected by muscle than your shin bone).

    You’re probably not doing it with the shin bone against the pole it’s just the way I read it and thought I’d clarify.

    Yes this is one that hurts, there’s no getting away from it, but it hurts slightly less with the "sweet spot" on the pole and with your hips pushed forward. Also try not to hammer this in a session. I personally can have 3 attempts at it and then I have to leave it for another session (I did get it before Xmas but with such a long break off the pole I’ll have probably lost it again, meh)

    thats what i was wandering i was thinking this can’t really what people are going through while they do knees and smile whole time https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif i thought there might be a slightly less painful way to get into it i was def putting all the pressure right on my shin bone very very painful ( and i am not usually one to avoid a move bc of pain as know it gets easier) i think it’s 1 of the most impressive moves and would really like to learn it if anyone has any "insider tips" on how to make it a little less painful i would greatly appreciate it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

    well have been trying but cant seem to find that "sweet spot" on the leg rather than the shin bone so haven’t gotten very far someone told me it might be easier from an invert any ideas how I would do that?

    I can’t see an invert being any easier since it’s the leg placement you are trying to get right. It’s very difficult to say where to get the leg without visual aids, but here’s some tips that helped me to get the knee hold;

    Reach high and get your top leg hooked as high as you can

    Try getting a stable chair, or pouffe, or sofa to lean on (it’s a nice cheaty way to get the feel of letting go without having all your weight on the pole

    ya i’m not sure either well that sounds like a good idea with the chair will have to use that next time I give it a try I’m going to try with boots on to see if that helps any thanks for the tip https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
