Hi guys! Here's what's going on in my world.
You may or may not know in December myself, my husband (webmaster) and our youngest moved from Las Vegas to Florida. We sold our big fancy home in November and moved to friendly community with a small house on a big lot. Leaving our other three children back in Vegas as they all have jobs and no longer live with us anyway. This was a new experience because while we’ve moved a lot it’s always been done as a family. I think the biggest adjustment was no longer having Sunday family dinners at our place with our kids and their friends. Thankfully our kids were supportive and all of them have come to visit already.
It took longer than usual to settle into our new home because we decided to significantly downsize our living situation. This required a good deal of letting go of items that felt unnecessary or where never used. I’ll be honest, committing to only having what you use (for the most part, we kept a few boxes of keepsakes and decorations) is scary at first, but it’s very freeing after you let go! I’m still finding things to give away even though we’ve been here for a few months. There’s something about clutter in a room that feels like clutter in my mind and soul.
There was no rush to complete my studio space because In January I broke my pinky finger. I was walking our large poodle and she saw a squirrel, totally new for her because we really don’t have those in Vegas. She walks on a loose leash and I tend to fiddle around with it while we walk. Well, she took off after the squirrel and my poor pinky finger got caught up in the leash went with!! There was pretty significant damage to the joint at the top of the finger but it’s healed enough now that I can pole dance. I still need to be careful and keep my practice to no more that two times a week and short sessions for now. Lifting weight isn’t a problem thankfully.
Sadly in February I had to say goodbye to my little Chihuahua. She was always in my lap or next to me whenever I was working, even when filming videos she was just off camera, such a sweet little soul. She had a seizer one morning and after rushing her to the emergency vet we found out it was heart failure. While it was a gut wrenchingly sad day, I believe that both people and animals come in and out of our life to help us or teach us more about ourselves. She did just that.
I’m sure you’ve been eager for new content and I have all kinds of notes and ideas for new stuff. However, please feel free to reply with ideas of new content you’d like to see! I can’t make any promises but it’s always helpful to have members share ideas.
If you’d like to have a peek at my new space, I’ve shared a videos on my personal Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/poledisco/ I’m calling it “The Jungle Gym” because it’s technically outside and our property feels and sounds like a jungle. We live in an elevated home so while I do have a ceiling and screens to keep bugs out, I have to work around weather. Humidity and heat will be the main factor for now, but in winter it will be a bit too cold to dance normally at times. All of these challenges will make for interesting work arounds, which I’m hoping will provide the ability for creative teaching and ideas to share with others in the similar situat
