Front Splits Class Day 4
Mantra – I am safe
Today’s tips: Proprioception is your body’s ability to sense movement, action, force and location of your body. If you didn’t have proprioception, you wouldn’t be able to move without taking time to think about your next step. Knowing this I hope you can see why I have you work on drills and aspects like balance, strength training, inversions (without a pole) and more in my programs. As a pole dancer your sense of proprioception is used heavily. This also means that learning pole skills is very healthy for your brain!
As mentioned in the video here are four styles of proprioception:
- The senses of position and movement of our limbs and trunk
- The sense of effort
- The sense of force
- The sense of heaviness
We will be using our Balance disk today as a tool to help increase our proprioception through balance.
Items you’ll need for class:
- Balance disk
- Massage ball peanut or tennis ball
- Foam roller
Day 4 of the Front Splits Class was a game-changer! The emphasis on proprioception really highlighted how crucial it is for pole dancers. The breakdown of the four styles of proprioception made it so clear. Excited to incorporate the balance disk into my routine to enhance my training.
