Here’s the link to the pole fit competition that was held in Vegas (I believe) tonight. It starts at mark 03:41:32. This was my first time watching a competition from start to finish and I loved every minute of it! I need to watch it again (thankfully u can with this stream) to see if I’m mistaken but I believe the 2nd place winner should’ve gotten 1st place.
anyways, enjoy ladies!

I think the second place winner should have gotten first or that last performer should have gotten first. she didnt even place!!!!! that was insane. Estefania Duque, that was the last performer, yes her and Ashley Fox the 2nd place winner. they were amazing. i’m kind of surprised by the results. I agree with you. the 1st and 3rd place winners I felt were wrong for those placements. 1st place should have been in the top 3. 3rd place shouldnt have even placed when compared to those 3…
-
I will also say they are All amazing. when it comes down to it, it is just nit-picking and preferences in the end. but those are my preferences. Dont want anybody to think I’m saying the others werent good

Phoenix, I had to watch her performance again and you’re absolutely right! Estefania was robbed, she absolutely deserved to be top 2 with Ashley Fox and 3rd place shouldn’t have placed at all but I guess that’s why they’re the judges and we’re not lol but now I’m off to Instagram to follow some of those talented ladies

From people who were there they said Jazzys performance was amazing and spotless. The cameraman sucked and the banter between Annemarie and Fawnia completely ruined her performance for me.

I haven’t watched the stream, so I don’t have any comments specific to this competition. I have attended several competitions in the past though that were professionally filmed, and then went back to the videos to re-watch favorite performances… and without exception, all of the performances lost something in the filming. The experience of watching some people performing live is radically different from the experience of watching them alone, from your living room, on YouTube. So, maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to armchair quarterback.
-
Chemgoddess, they were absolutely a distraction and they didn’t even provide useful commentary; they were the whole reason I didn’t remember Estefania’s performance, they were too busy fighting over an entirely different performer to point out her many highlights smh
-
Kasanya, I understand that much but you also have to watch it and see the level of artistry that Ashley and Estefania included in there performances in comparison to some of the other girls; the girl who placed 3rd in particular…I’m sure that wasn’t lost in translation lol

I dont think its armchair quarterbacking to have your favorites. I didnt have the option of watching it live. yes, Im sure all performances are much better live. I’m glad I had the option to atleast watch it livestream. I want to be able to just turn on the tv one day and watch pole competitions and performances. For that to happen, I will have to accept that the live performance will always be better than a tv recording. ya know, all of those ladies are freaking awesome. so its not like anyone sucked or anything. I just know what I watched and how it made me feel when I watched it. doesnt mean everybody is gonna feel the same way I do. Jazzy’s performance was indeed flawless! I really preferred Estefania and Ashley stylistically. I feel kind of hurt that you would say we are armchair quarterbacking when you didnt even watch the performances yet. I see nothing wrong with us being excited about our favorite performers. I think enthusiasm is good for this sport. we all like diffferent styles and performers. No one is bashing any of the performers. as far as AnneMarie and Fawnia being a distraction. well, this was the first time I have ever watched a pole competition with commentation. that is pretty new to me and maybe it is new to others. Im sure sports fans feel the same way about their commentators too. this was all very new and only the second time for this competition. our industry is young and even the commentators are trying to find their way I think. I’m sure they too will learn what does and doesnt work. but yes, some of the commentation took away from the performances. I wished the music had been louder for the livestream viewers. I could barely hear the music.

if this is armchair quarterbacking then we’re all very fortunate that we have the opportunity to do that because a few years ago there were no pole competitions to be watched by the general public. this is growth. I’m sick of hearing everyone brag and talk about their favorite sports team and the game the next day. I wanna be able to talk about my favorite sport the next day- Pole.

I’m disappointed that I missed the broadcast – are there replays available? If someone could provide a link it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much!

Maybe it would have been more diplomatic to say “we should be careful of arm chair quarterbacking”. *shrugs* In any event, my comments came from the fact I’ve seen threads like this over and over again after competitions. People may not be trying to bash the performers, but there is a subtle difference between saying “X shouldn’t have placed” and “I really loved Y and thought she should have placed”. A few other comments with regards to judging competitions… What the judges prefer stylistically is not necessarily what you or I prefer stylistically and the marks will reflect that. Also, the nature of the competition is important. This was the competition at the Arnold, right? Which is fundamentally a sports and fitness event? I would therefore expect the technical scores to be weighted heavier than the artistic ones. Anyway, just some food for thought.

This isn’t FB and I haven’t seem many threads here get nasty…..I haven’t seen anything yet that makes me think people are being thoughtless of the competitors. I saw Phoenix’s first post as someone who was excited and wrote back quickly, she is a regular member and would never say something to belittle the competitors.
-
Thank you Veena. No I would never belittle anything those women are doing. I’m proud they are up there and doing that competition. they are all there because they are great and put in the time and effort. Also I do feel Estefania’s performance was technically alot more difficult than the lady who placed 3rd. I do understand that judges are gonna feel differently than me. that’s why I get to talk to my friends and chat about what I liked, because I’m not a judge there. I have favorites for different reasons just like the judges have favorites for different reasons. Third place was not what I consider to be an Arnold classic type of performance either. not that, that is even what I want or expect to see. maybe you should watch it. it was rather enjoyable you might like it and you might feel completely different than all of us and the judges.

I will add, having been a judge, depending on how much value is placed on elements, once you’ve totaled up the scores, the over all out come is often not even what you expected!
