Hi everyone! So I am 20 weeks pregnant and haven’t really poled since before I found out I was expecting. I had only been poling for a few months before I found out but it was one of the best stress relievers I’ve ever had and my favorite workout. I haven’t worked out at all since finding out and had to have surgery in July to remove my appendix. I’m all cleared to workout again but I’m nervous.

All that to say, do you think it would be wise to start doing some light poling again for the rest of my pregnancy or just completely wait until after I have my daughter and am approved to go back to exercising?

One of the principals at our company continued with her daily ballet class well into her pregnancy! She kept it light and stayed away from heavy jumps and stuff like that, but she’d do barre exercises with us almost ’til the very end.

Light exercise is probably fine unless you’re having a high-risk pregnancy. Talking to your OB is probably your best bet! But I would imagine that if you stay upright and do a lot of dance-y stuff it’s not different from doing a light aerobics type workout at the gym or something like that.

Disclaimer: I’ve never, to my knowledge, been pregnant! 😛

Depends on what you mean by light poling. Pregnancy isn’t the best time to start something you’re body is unfamiliar with, continuing while pregnant is different, yet for myself I did alter how and what I did as pregnancy progressed.

There are several threads here if you do a search, also you might want to check out the Veena Method curriculum I have created as it talked about poling and pregnancy. https://www.studioveena.com/methods/letter

I mentioned poling to my OB before and she kinda gave me a crazy look but knows how into fitness I’ve always been so she said as long as I don’t do anything extreme. I was just learning to invert but I will be steering clear of that until after the baby. But some simple spins, dance stuff, and maybe climbs depending on how I’m feeling would probably be all I would be daring to do.

Veena – I will definitely check it out. Thank you!!

Dreadex Phoenix congrats on the new baby..I have never pole when I was pregnant.. I discovered pole after my 4th child, wish I would have known before but if your doctor is fine with it then do some spins, floor work, dance around.. I know being pregnant makes you tired but make sure you walk..it will help when you go into labor..
