I’m finding the same thing, I get to about 67 seconds and feel like I’m going to crash! Maybe because it’s basically every day? Should we be planking every day or should we have a rest day in between? I don’t want to stop though maybe if we change it up a bit? Hold what we can and just keep track of our times?

I’m inclined to agree…I’ve basically given up 🙁 I built up to where I got to around 60 seconds, but it seems that that was my limit. I managed it for a few days and have been going backwards since then. I’m disappointed, but also astounded that these girls who I’ve seen doing it are able to hold it for so long each day…I kind of feel like if their core is that strong already then they don’t need to be doing a plank challenge! So yeah, perhaps a shake-up of the rules is needed, although for the next couple of days I’m off planks altogether as I don’t want to put my back at risk.

I made it to Day 10 but day 11 I had to put my knees down, but I got further than I thought. I made 3 minutes at day 10 but couldn’t hold 3 min 20 sec on day 11. The next day was a rest day so today I’m supposed to try the 3 min 20 secs again. I’ll at least give it a try. It seems like it increases too quickly (at least for me) as it moves on.

grayeyes if you set it to easy mode it goes up by 10 seconds each time rather than 20 (I think)

I’m taking the 30 days as a guideline, not a stick to beat myself with. (Not easy for me as a schedule-loving perfectionist!) On Fri I had some deep tissue work done, so I took Fri and Sat off. I intend to pick it up again tonight. I’m managing the increases so far, but my start point was pretty poor so the increases are still quite reasonable. I may feel differently by day 15 or something! I think if it’s a struggle, it’s better to dial it back a bit and keep doing *something* even if it’s modified or less time or whatever. These challenges can feel like an all-or nothing, success or failure thing but in reality, doing anything, no matter how small, is a massive positive impact for our fitness and represents a success! High 5s to all of us!

I also discovered that it doesn’t let you go on if you click the button that you didn’t complete it, in addition to giving you a message that says something like, “if you don’t like starting over, stop quitting!” If it’s going to give me mean messages when I don’t succeed, I think it should give me nice messages on all the days I did succeed! 🙂

I’ve thought about going down to easy but someone said it lowered all the numbers even for the days they had done like taking away their progress. Because I’m type A I haven’t wanted to do that. I did manage to do my 3 min 20 sec today, but it was brutal.

I’ve been watching various TED talks on You Tube while I do it to try to distract myself.

I’ve decided to stop the timer when I need to and do the time in sections if that’s what needs to happen. I’m still doing the entire time, but there’s no way I can hold it in one go

Just did 166 (with breaks) I can hold it longer than my first go but then it gets too much. I started on 46 seconds, I could do the 115 seconds but now I can only hold 60 seconds or so. Improvement but frustrating. I think more rest days are something they should think about. The bridge and sit-up challenges break more frequently and the bridge challenge alternates reps going up and down (one day 53 the next 48 eg)

I’ve gotten to the point where I feel sick even thinking about doing a plank…

I realize I failed to complete my thought in my last post–if you click that you didn’t complete it, it doesn’t let you go on to the next day at all.

And Type A = anal rententive, OCD, perfectionist type person.

Don’t feel frustrated about this challenge…. keep in mind that many challenges are not set up in a way that allows for reasonable progression. Doing something strength related over and over without adequate rest usually doesn’t work for many people. When I designed my ab challenge I made sure muscle groups where not over worked, however it was still meant to be a challenge so it is not easy!

Also I’m not sure that doing any of the popular meme challenges will improve strength significantly for most people, that’s not to say some won’t see results.
