Smaller diameter means less area to cause surface tension.  This is a common problem even with changing from 50 to 45.

Here is a thread (with another one linked inside it) discussing the smaller diameter poles: https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/4e8c33b9-495c-431b-84ec-71ef0ac37250

I have a 38 as well.  I have got certain leg grips without a problem, but others are a bit more challenging.  What I can tell you is some of my leg grips (such as knee hold) I can NOT do on my 50.  I think that is too big for my little leg to get around (I am 5ft even).  Keep working, it will take a while, but I think we will be able to adjust with time!  🙂

you have to squeeze much mor eon the smaller diameter. Thigh holds will take some adjusting. Knee holds seem to be easier for me on the smaller poles. I get nervois doing an EG aysha on a 38 though…
