I just got a rosin bag for my chrome and i stick like glue! any sportstore in base ball section should have it you just rub the bag on your skin!

Generally, thicker poles are better for the legs, thinner better for the hands (that's what she said). You might find that increasing up to the 45mm would make a different for your leg grip, and 50mm even more, but it may not be only the diameter that will help. I would suggest, before making the transition, playing around on a 45mm and seeing if you feel more secure with the diameter of it (rather than just the finish).
Personally, even though I started on a 50mm, I prefer the 45mm now that I am used to it as it is better on my hands. A 40mm is too small for my legs too, I can use it but certainly notice a big enough difference with layouts and superman and whatnot – but that is me, and I am probably a larger build than you considering you went for the 40mm in the first place.
In the studio I go to, we have one 40mm, about seven 45mm and seven 50mm – usually the only people using the 40mm for anything requiring major leg grippage are the incredibly small and petite girls.
Have you tried a little shaving cream on your legs? It will make you stick to anything – if that doens't work, then it might well be the diameter that is the bigger issue, as you need to squeeze much harder to make up for the difference.

My 1st pole was a lilmynx stainless 50mm..i could catipillar forever but my hands are so small…then i switched out to 40mn chrome…things are easier but the chrome slipage is annoying..and can’t catipillar to save my life…the more i find for finish in my state i hear that once others did away with there chrome and upgraded things again became easier …..I’ve tryed corn huskers…shaving cream..dry hands itac.tite grip..pole physic lotion..painters tape chalk and the spray paint

O ya and i have mighty grip gloves..also I’m tiny..I’m 5’0 112 pounds..my 7 year old hands are almost my size..lol..but yet i got some meaty thighs

Perhaps with the combination of small hands and meaty thighs means that ultimately 45mm might be a good compromise for you – and finish can make a difference, however you said you have had your chrome spray painted and that didn't help? Can you try out other finishes (remembering that at a studio they will have been worn in) before making the change?
For me brass is best, then TG then chrome (although I haven't tried stainless steel) however one day I would like to compete, and international comp standards seem to be 45mm on chrome… so I better get used to that 🙂

Ya the spray paint does to a point..but I’m sure brass with be better..there’s no studios here..although in a drunkin stupper i hoped up on stage at a adult club and climb the brass pole and it was cake..lol

I'm about your size (5'2, 112 lbs) with kid-size hands and somewhat meaty thighs. I have tried 40, 45, and 50mm and totally prefer the 45… I think it's the perfect compromise between too big for the hands and too thin for legs to grab.

I’m 4’11 107lbs and I have tiny hands and meaty thighs. I love the 40 mm! My hands are way too small for a 45mm and I’ve never even tried a 50mm as they aren’t common in Australia. The studio I dance at has mostly 38mm poles and I find them fine for leg grip too. I think it’s just what you get used to?

Ty for all the reponses..I’m leaning more to the fact its the chrome and i don’t mesh..so i jus order A.pole in brass..it should be here on tue or wens!!!!:)..ill defknow then if its the finish or mm.

I hope you love your Brass pole! Yuma is a little hotter than Tucson, and we love Brass here.
I heard from some of our students, who moved here from Yuma, there is a pole studio right across the border in Mexico, not to far from Yuma, about 20 minutes. They bring in some Pole Champions for workshops, have you heard of it? You might want to look into it, or send me an email and I'll find out for you…
