Im sure this question has been asked before but im just curious Do you like the 45mm or the 50mm??? i recently bought the X Pole 50 and i went to the pole convention this past weekend and finally got to try a 45 and OMG what a difference it was soo much eaiser for me to grip im only 5'3 and i have small hands HOWEVER the 50 has been great on thigh holds but other than that im finding it REALLY hard to learn new tricks or maybe i just need to get used to it im thinking of selling it and getting a 45 what do you think?????

It depends on what your goals and ambitions are.  If you are doing this just for you to have fun go with whatever is easier for you.  If you are hoping to compete one day the standard is still 50.  There are a ton of ladies who have been where you are and have over come their grip issues.  As far as I know, 45's were not even around 3 years ago so pretty much every performer out there that has been at this for some time has learned with 50's.

I have a 50mm Xpert Xpole and it's great for leg holds but I'm tall and still have grip issues. I just recently purchased an Xstage lite and got a 45mm.  It is amazing. I can do so much more stuff on it. I really wanted the 50mm to hope to be good enough to perform, but I've kinda given up on that. I've been stalled out on my moves for a while. Hope this helps in some way. Happy Poling!

I may be able to weigh in on this because I refused to buy a smaller diameter pole — I wanted to use what the "pros" use and train for what I would be competing with.  After years of resistance, I now love and own a 45.  It's helped me with forearm and wrist pain, I feel a lot more secure on it, and I love to practice on it.  I think it's better to get whatever encourages you to practice more and build strength!

As for competing, I can tell the difference when I dance on a 50mm, but I can still do all the tricks I can do on a smaller pole.  Hope that helps. 🙂

oh the dilema.. get both if you can. 🙂 I also started with a 50mm because it was the standart size and recently got a 45mm.. love both. My legs prefer the 50mm but my grip is much better on the 45mm… I'm always going back and forth between the two for diferent moves… I wonder when they'll come up with a 47,5mm pole… humm now that would be perfect! 😉

I started with 50mm pole and it still feels most natural to me. I have very large hands and my my grip is better on this kind of pole both with my arms and legs.

When I started on a 45mm pole I really despised it. I felt like I was dancing on a broomstick! Now I got used it it a bit…

I think I have just like average hand size, theyre not big and not small. I think that 45 is probably more comfortable.

I use both 38mm stainless steel and 50mm chrome and I like the 38mm so much better. I have tried 45mm also a few times. I personally prefer anything smaller then 50mm. 🙂
