AERIAL SILK ONLINE LESSONS?
Posted by joni1 on March 21, 2010 at 10:05 pmSo, I have been taking aerial silk classes to compliment my pole strength. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif I also now have my own silk rigged at my home. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Does anyone who takes aerial silk know if there are any online lesson/ vid like studio veena’s online lessons but for aerial silk https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif I am taking level 1 classes but would like a supplimentary online vids to also break down the moves and wraps for me. Thanks. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif

Hi Joni! I have been taking silks too and love it – it complements pole strength very well! I don’t know of any online lessons, but there’s a little silks wiki site that I check out – some of the names of moves/wraps are different than what I have learned, but it helps.

And PS? I am so jealous of your home silks setup! Enjoy. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

You could always check out silks performances on YouTube. That’s how I started learning pole before I found more comprehensive sites (like this one). There’s also a series of French books with lovely pictures illustrating moves for a few different apparatus. The ones I’ve found so far are silks, ropes, static trapeze and hoop.

wow, i tht having a pole at home would be the coolest thing ever (I have one now)–
what kind of ceiling do you have to set up silks?!?!?
that has to be a tiny bit cooler than a pole… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
so awesome!
don’t suppose you’d be able to post a pic of your setup???i had tht about it, but assumed it would be impossible, at least with regular 8ft ceilings.
what height/kind of ceiling do you have???wtg!!!

Just found this: http://aerialdanceclasses.com/
There are some vids from this site on youtube to advertise it. Not actually in as a member yet, not sure how it works, but I will let you guys know! Just fell head over heels in love with lyra in my last beginner aerials class when I tried it for the first time. Feel so natural!

Thanks everyone for the great links and info. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif Right now I have my red silk set up in my pole room but its only *8 feet ceiling. I am able to do short climb and wrapping practice at this height. The silks at my studio is 30 feet and so great to climb and do tricks on. So, I begged my husband and after lots of s—–l favors, he agreed to let me put up one in our front hall that will be 17 feet high. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Our second floor has one of those balcony rail type where it is open to the main floor. I purchased rock climbing hardward for the rigging with swivels enough for 3000lb wt I was told. My husband has to go to the attic and add extra support for the hardware. I also plan on using my 6 inch crash mats for my pole for silk and put my thick sofa cushions on top of the crash mats. So right now I have my dark purple/blue silk and all the hardware and as soon as we get back from our 2 week vacation to cuba, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_nemo.gif my husband will strengthen the ceiling and rigg it. My husband is a very handyman. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif I will take a pic of the 17 ft silk rigging as soon as my husband has it up.
