    This is an updated post – mainly because I can’t delete my original post and I didn’t want to make a new thread.

    I got my platinum stages pole off a girl on craigslist and had a couple questions. I believe it is the previous multi-piece pole because it’s not a one piece but she says she got it a couple years ago.

    Has anyone used their ps pole on a stuccoed ceiling or is it even ok to use it on a stucco ceiling?

    What is the recommended amount of floor space needed for pole dancing?

    Does she have the new Extreme Pole? That’s what picture your link went to. Those are really new poles, just released in September. I wonder why she is selling it so soon. I was thinking of purchasing one myself, but would like to see it in action and hear others reviews first. Please let me know how you get on with it.

    I don’t know a whole lot about the new PS poles….But as far as space for dancing….A good guideline is to, hold on to your pole, then extend both arms out to your sides (so your making a T) If you can walk around the pole with your arms out like that and not run into the wall or anything else you have a nice amount of space. If you want to use a smaller space, it can work, but you’ll want to avoid spins and stick with inverts and moves that keep you close to your pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

    PS poles and xpoles are pretty similar in my opinion. They’re both sturdy and heavy pole pieces. I noticed that the threading on the PS pole is wider (it’s like 1.5 inches or so) than the xpole, so it takes a little more time to put the pieces together.

    The main difference that I noticed is the floor and ceiling pieces,The xpole, I know has a rubber ring on the edge, whereas the ps pole has a the ring at the edge of their ceiling piece but both piece also have rubber on the entirety of the pieces – there are also bumps of rubber to help keep the pole even more stable. The ps pole pieces aree also a bit a smaller in diameter.

    *sigh* I haven’t been able to use my pole yet. Our ceiling seems to have dropped below the standard pole size so we actually have ot be an extension piece for the now slightly lower ceiling. ;_;

    Did you wind up getting a newer PS Xtreme pole or an older PS multi-piece?

    There are several notable differences between the old PS poles, New PS poles and Xpoles which may make a difference in use. Since PS has come out with a new line of poles there may be a lot of the older versions on the market now so people may not realize some of these differences:

    Old PS poles have a rubber backing but also the upper side of the ceiling plate is flat. This means it sits flush against the ceiling. If it loosens during use, the flat ceiling plate will slide across the ceiling with nothing to inhibit it from falling over.

    The upper ceiling plate on the Xpole is cupped or dome shaped underneath and hollow in the center on top. This CAN mane that if the pole loosens during use, due to the dome shape, the edge of the upper plate will "lift" up and wedge against the ceiling. So it may shift over, but is less likely to fall as it will catch on the edge of the dome.

    Also the older PS multi-piece poles had problems with the threaded neck of the extensions snapping off from where it was welded onto the extension during use. They later increased the thickness of the neck and improved the welding.

    Even better the new Xtreme, from what I understand, has a solid steel threaded core insert into the pole to make the threaded connection even stronger to correct this problem. If this is an older PS multi-piece it may be subject to problems with the threaded connections so check them regularly for cracking away from the pole itself.

    Both poles are fine on popcorn or stucco ceilings if they are in good repair. You may loosen a few fine pieces from the ceiling but it should be ok if it’s in good shape.
