A few questions about installing X-Pole
Posted by wildbluesun on November 7, 2011 at 11:01 amHello! I just signed up, and I have a few questions about installing the X-Pole.
I live at home (I’m 18) and my mum says I can have a pole so long as it stays in my room and can be taken down without leaving permanent marks (so no screws). My room is on the second floor; the floor is carpeted and the ceiling textured (it looks like someone drew designs in the paint when it was still wet, so it’s ridged).
I’ve heard good things about X-Pole and was hoping to buy one soon; but before I do, will I be able to use the pole in this set up?

Yep so long as you can find a stud in the ceiling! I have an x-pole and I love it! I have carpet under it and a textured ceiling as well. It has not left any marks. I had it in the same spot for a year and moved it and you would never know it was there!

Thank you very much, that's really helpful! 😀
Now just to get the last £50 for the pole fund…

Hello!
Just make sure to center it under a stud/joist. You can go to the xpole website and watch the installation video.

That didn't sound right… what I was trying to say is by watching the installation video you can see exactly how to do the install. So when you get yours you will be more familiar with it.
My xpole does not leave any marks in the ceiling or floor. I totally love it.

If you get an x pole, don't get a 50 mm. They admittedly make the walls thinner than the 45s. I had so many problems with mine.

FYI, my platinum stages pole should be here tomorrow (to replace my x pole.) Once it arrives, I plan on letting everyone know what I think of it. I ordered a 45mm brassy. 😀 There are a whole bunch of pole companies out there that don't require drilling. Honestly, I can not in good conscience recommend x pole. If you want to know the full story of WHY I cannot recommend them, feel free to private message me.
Other pole options, that don't require drilling, that I've seen grils recommend are:
platinum stages (brass and stainless steel)
action poles (brass only, comes in 38mm and 50mm)
pole danzer (brass and stainless steel, 50mm only)
Aradia pole (brass only???)

@sensualscimitar – Yay! Congrats on your new pole. Let us know how you like it and if you have any questions.
All of our poles are made of either real, genuine brass or real genuine stainless steel. We do not ever use chrome or any other matieral due to chrome being linked to skin rashes and sensitivity issues as well as potential health hazards.
LizzyLiz810 has a great video on how to properly clean a brass pole if you'd like to check it out:

Thanks for link and pole brand recommendations – problem – I’m in the UK. All of the named companies appear to be in the USA, and I suspect shipping rates will be prohibitive. (I have a total budget of £160 or about $250.) The only decent brands operating in the UK that I’m aware of are X-Pole and R-Pole – R-Pole are freestanding poles that cost lots of money, so X-Pole it is. I will get the 45mm though.

Platinum stages does ship to the UK as well. They have a multi piece option on their site. The matal they use is not a plating. Mine should be here today. If I can get it set up, I'll le tyou know what I think of it.
